The role:

  • Translate business strategy into operational SD strategy
  • Ensure SD governance structures and communication protocols are in place and maintained

Requirements:

Remuneration:

·         The initial salary will be determined in accordance with Kumba Iron Ore regulations

The role:
The role of the HRD Officer: Production is to support the HR/HRD Coordinator, Concentrator Manager (where applicable) with the purpose of ensuring the effectiveness of the human resources in terms of discipline specific Education, Training and Development competencies in the Operation.

Key Responsibilities:
· Provide effective discipline specific ETD services to support the achievement of plans
· Effective administration of necessary systems
· Presenting of Metallurgical skills programs and legal compliance courses
· Support the overall discipline specific HRD management of the Operation

Technical Work Requirements:
· Expert training and development within a Concentrator Operation
· To deliver effective ETD services – inclusive of Process Development Route training
· To effectively administer systems
· To support overall management of the HRD department
· To ensure compliance to legal and national requirements
Minimum Requirements:
· A two years Training Qualification / Certificate (on NQF level 5) relevant to role
· At least three years discipline specific experience
· Experience as HRD Officer will be advantageous
· Competent in Process HRD ETD systems and related legislation
· Computer literate for role including SAP HRD
· Applicable software packages where necessary
· Registered Assessor
· Registration as Moderator will be advantageous
· Proficient in English
· Valid driving license code 08

PURPOSE AND ROLE IN THE BUSINESS:
This position requires a qualified Occupational Health Specialist to provide a comprehensive occupational medical surveillance and emergency medical care services that is quality driven, including wellbeing programmes provided to all Voorspoed Mine employees and contractors.


KEY RESULT AREAS:

·         Ensure adherence to the Mine Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and legal requirements.
·         Manage the occupational medical surveillance programme and reporting systems.
·         Implement policies, codes of practice, standards and procedures and ensure adherence to relevant legislations and occupations standards.
·         Provide occupational medical care, manage injuries on duty and disability cases.
·         Monitor and report on the surveillance to the necessary entities within and external to the mine.
·         Management of all Injuries on Duty and Occupational diseases
·         Manage the emergency medical and wellbeing services.
·         Implement programmes to deal with illness and promotion of wellness
·         Develop and maintain sound patient and care-provider relationships
·         Manage and direct Health Centre staff
·         Conduct internal audits; and to maintain effective external stakeholder relationships.
·         Manage the Health Centre budget

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (Education & Experience)
·         Grade 12/Standard 10 Certificate/N3 or relevant NQF level qualification
·         Degree or a National Diploma in Occupational Health and Primary Health Care
·         At least 5 years’ experience in delivering Occupational Medical services
·         At least 2 years’ experience at a supervisory level
·         Registration with South African Nursing Council and membership of the South African Society for Occupational Health Nurses.
·         Good communication skills
·         Sound knowledge of Mine Health and safety Act and relevant Codes of Practice pertaining to
 Medical surveillance and fitness for work.
·         Valid Code 08/EB Driver’s License.
·         This post is dependent on successful completion of the Company’s screening protocols such as being declared medically and physically fit, and security clearance


SKILLS/ COMPETENCIES:

·         Broad knowledge of occupational medicine and the surveillance necessary in the mining sector specifically
·         Experience with the establishment and maintenance of Occupational Management Systems both paper and electronic.  An advantage to have worked on an electronic system

·         Knowledge of applicable legislation and statutory requirements 
·         Ability to create team synergy, manage diversity and promote a high performance culture
·         Knowledge and understanding of auditing practices and governance principles;
·         Ability to work under pressure.
·        Demonstrate good understanding of management of chronic diseases impacting on fitness for work, including HIV and tuberculosis.
·         Ability to analyse data and follow-up on trends.
·         SAP knowledge.
·         Sound knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act and relevant Codes of Practice pertaining to medical surveillance and fitness for work.
