STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: A post-graduate degree in International Relations, Development Studies, Political Science, Social Studies, or another relevant field.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of work experience in government partnerships in an international development organization.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The Partnerships & Advocacy Department (PA) provides leadership and expertise to WFP's global partnership and resource mobilization efforts, ensuring that WFP gets maximum resources to fully meet the needs of the people we serve, in order to support Member States in achieving Zero Hunger and Agenda 2030. Within PA, the PPR Division is responsible for building and maintaining government partnerships. The London Office is responsible for a range of donor-facing engagements and activities for fundraising, advocacy, strategic partnerships, and media relations.

JOB PURPOSE

The purpose of the assignment is to actively contribute to as well as facilitate the work of senior staff to effectively position WFP with public external partners to attract policy support, resources, technical assistance and innovative solutions to advance the work of WFP. The Junior Consultant will lead WFP UK’s thematic partnerships and advocacy on Nutrition and School Feeding.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  1. Carry out regular government partnerships functions such as drafting briefing materials, talking points, presentations and NFRs for internal and external meetings, engagements, and other high-level events.
  2. Support Government Partnerships Officer to build new and maintain existing relationships with partners in Government, International Financial Institutions (IFIs), NGOs, think tanks, universities, and other key stakeholders and influencers, tracking engagement with these partners on Salesforce.
  3. Leverage opportunities to secure funding for WFP and support the Government Partnerships Officer and Country Offices and Regional Bureaus in the drafting of concept notes and funding proposals as required.
  4. Facilitate missions of WFP leadership to the UK, coordinate strategic opportunities, manage agendas, and accompany staff to high-level meetings, events, and engagements.
  5. Stay abreast of public policy trends and political developments; provide regular political monitoring and analysis to support WFP’s partnership with the UK including weekly updates, monthly reports and ad-hoc research and analysis.
  6. Contribute to internal strategic exercises including office workplans, donor engagement strategies, Annual Performance Plan (APP) reviews and plans.

The role:
The role holder will be responsible for enhancing Save the Children's Global Campaign by ensuring a rigorous, robust and innovative monitoring and evaluation, accountability and learning strategy is in place for our campaigns and advocacy work under the Global Campaign.
They will be responsible for that Save the Children is informed by the latest thinking and best practice from around the world in measuring campaigns and advocacy impact and ensuring learning.
The role holder will manage the on-going development and implementation of strong metrics of success, and that processes and systems are in place for data gathering and research, analysis and communication.
The role holder will work with the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Manager for the Global Initiative in Health and Nutrition, and work closely with the M&E Manager on ensuring that core processes and systems include best practice in campaigns and advocacy accountability and impact.

Required qualifications and experience:
  • A degree in a relevant field or advanced training in qualitative methodologies, including strong research skills would be considered an advantage
  • A significant track record in international development and /or campaigning/ advocacy or social policy relevant to global health and nutrition. Direct experience of monitoring and evaluation related to advocacy and campaigning with strong research and analytic skills, and an understanding of a range of methods for monitoring, evaluation and assessment to promote evidence-based learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, commission, and manage assessment methodologies and evaluation.
  • Sound strategic thinking and planning skills, including ability to think creatively and innovate and to set priorities, manageable workplans and evaluate progress.
  • Strong communications skills in English (both written and verbal). The ability to analyse complex data and summarise it for a range of different audiences.
  • Experience of a complex organisational structure, preferably in a global context.
  • Experience of successfully operating in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Experience of building personal networks, enabling effective outcomes
  • Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy in.

The role: The Procurement Coordinator will be accountable for the procurement and delivery of international orders requested by Save the Children International country offices.
Specifically, the Procurement Coordinators will be responsible for ensuring timely, cost effective procurement and delivery of goods and services, which are compliant with Save the Children and donor procurement policies and guidelines.

Required qualifications and experience:
  • Proven and significant experience in international procurement and contract management, including an ability to review procurement demands and trends, and to develop strategies to fill identified gaps.
  • Field level experience in logistics for INGOs in international development and emergency programmes
  • Knowledge of key institutional donors and their compliance requirements in respect of logistics and procurement
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
  • Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy in.
  • Commitment to Save the Children values.
  • Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours in the event of major emergencies including travelling at short notice and for extended periods of time
  • Working knowledge of French is an advantage
  • Highly organised with good administration skills for order and information management, able to develop filing systems and databases to ensure an auditable trail.
