STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education:
A post-graduate degree in International Relations, Development Studies,
Political Science, Social Studies, or another relevant field.
- Experience:
At least 1 year of work experience in government partnerships in an
international development organization.
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The Partnerships & Advocacy Department (PA) provides
leadership and expertise to WFP's global partnership and resource mobilization
efforts, ensuring that WFP gets maximum resources to fully meet the needs of
the people we serve, in order to support Member States in achieving Zero Hunger
and Agenda 2030. Within PA, the PPR Division is
responsible for building and maintaining government partnerships. The London
Office is responsible for a range of donor-facing engagements and activities
for fundraising, advocacy, strategic partnerships, and media relations.
JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of the assignment is to actively contribute to
as well as facilitate the work of senior staff to effectively position WFP with
public external partners to attract policy support, resources, technical
assistance and innovative solutions to advance the work of WFP. The Junior
Consultant will lead WFP UK’s thematic partnerships and advocacy on Nutrition
and School Feeding.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
- Carry
out regular government partnerships functions such as drafting briefing
materials, talking points, presentations and NFRs for internal and
external meetings, engagements, and other high-level events.
- Support
Government Partnerships Officer to build new and maintain existing relationships
with partners in Government, International Financial Institutions (IFIs),
NGOs, think tanks, universities, and other key stakeholders and
influencers, tracking engagement with these partners on Salesforce.
- Leverage
opportunities to secure funding for WFP and support the Government
Partnerships Officer and Country Offices and Regional Bureaus in the
drafting of concept notes and funding proposals as required.
- Facilitate
missions of WFP leadership to the UK, coordinate strategic opportunities,
manage agendas, and accompany staff to high-level meetings, events, and
engagements.
- Stay
abreast of public policy trends and political developments; provide
regular political monitoring and analysis to support WFP’s partnership
with the UK including weekly updates, monthly reports and ad-hoc research
and analysis.
- Contribute
to internal strategic exercises including office workplans, donor
engagement strategies, Annual Performance Plan (APP) reviews and plans.
