Due to growth and expansion, an opportunity has been created in the Operations Group in the EMEA Business Unit in Dubai. The role of the Operations Group Manager is to support GRM Project(s) through providing scheduling, operational, financial and compliance support for assigned international projects to contribute to cost effective, timely and specification compliant project delivery.

You will demonstrate:
  • Relevant bachelor’s degree;
  • 5 – 10 years relevant work experience;
  • 3 – 5 years of DFID, DFAT-Australian Aid or USAID project management experience, including managing long and short term consultants, project start-up & closeout, achieving milestones and interpreting project plans;
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a developing country or similar environment;
  • Proven ability to develop and administer budget, schedule and performance requirements;
  • Strong management skills with ability mentor, coach, lead, develop and evaluate staff;
  • Financial acumen and the ability to interpret and analyse financial reports.

  • Well developed and highly effective organisational skills and attention to details;
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and balance several competing projects at once;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and willingness to work additional hours;
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office;
  • Willingness to travel and work abroad in developing countries and elsewhere.
This role is suited for candidates based in UAE and will not attract mobilisation/relocation assistance.

This newly created role will report to the Group Managing Director, whilst working closely with the Futures Group CEO, the EMEA and APAC RegionalDirectors to ensure that all projects are delivered efficiently, innovatively, on time, within budget, with high quality, and to client satisfaction.

Purpose of Position
The strategy for this role is to provide strategic direction and management of the Operations Group of GRM Futures.  The role is also expected to oversee the operational compliance and risk management, Security and Duty of Care across the Group.  The Director of Operations will report to the Managing Director but will work closely with the business unit heads to ensure that all projects are delivered efficiently, innovatively, on time, within budget with high quality and client satisfaction.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Your primary responsibilities will revolve around Operations, being the point of contact for support for all projects across GRM Futures to enable more effective and efficient operations, compliance and risk management and safety and duty of care.  In particular you will be expected to:
  • Provide strategic direction to the Operations Group across GRM Futures ensuring that all projects apply a consistent approach to cost effective, timely and specification-compliant project delivery;
  • Ensure projects are well integrated into the business;
  • Provide direct management to Futures Group, APAC and EMEA Operations to ensure that all company projects are fully functional, while adhering to client’s specifications and the company’s standard operating procedures and requirements;
  • Lead the implementation of effective project start-up processes and procedures including standardising project kick-off system;
  • ensure that feedback and action points from the Internal Project Review meetings are implemented; 
  • Security and Duty of care
  • Operational compliance and risk management and
  • Development and Corporate Support Functions in a matrix organization;
  • Provide Business Development support as and when required;
Minimum education and experience required
  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree; MBA, relevant Master’s degree an advantage
  • Total minimum 12 years relevant work experience
  • Minimum 6 years of people management experience including setting clear performance objectives, managing for results, giving and receiving feedback, performance evaluation and mentoring and coaching consultants/employees

Key competencies and professional expertise required
  • Knowledge and/or previous experience in introducing ISO standards and ERP system will be an advantage
  • Formal Project Management training and expertise
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership, management and people handling skills
  • Proven experience in executing contract mechanisms (e.g. subcontracts, purchase orders, grants, consultant agreements, etc.)
  • Financial acumen and the ability to develop budgets, interpret and analyse financial reports
  • Sound problem solving and decision making skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate successful outcomes in challenging situations
  • This position will be based in Dubai, UAE and will require significant amount of travel
