Mission and objectives
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in
the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination
against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of
equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development,
human rights, humanitarian action and peace, and security.
Context
The candidate will support the implementation of the
Regional Ending Violence Against Women portfolio- one of the main thematic
areas implemented by UN Women.
Task description
Under the direct supervision of Regional Programme
Specialist managing the EVAW Portfolio, the UN Volunteer will undertake the
following tasks: • Conduct regular environmental scanning and analysis on EVAW
trends in the region. • Prepare and update a repository of ongoing efforts to
address VAW in the Arab States with a mapping of key partners. • Support the
team lead in the design and implementation of projects on EVAW. • Support
coordination efforts within the team. • Draft briefing notes, talking points,
background papers, and presentations as requested. • Contribute to the
substantive preparation of meetings, training sessions and other relevant
events. • Contribute to communications and outreach regarding UN Women’s EVAW
efforts in the region. • Support the knowledge management of the EVAW
portfolio, including by maintaining accessible digital records of all EVAW
files and related documents.

Requirements
Required experience
3 years of experience in • Previous work experience in
development programme/project implementation, coordination, monitoring and
evaluation, donor reporting and capacity building; • Previous experience in the
field of ending violence against women; • Experience in coordination, advocacy
on the area of violence against women. • Excellent oral and written skills,
excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills. • Accuracy and
professionalism in document production and editing • Advanced higher degree
(master’s or equivalent) in a relevant area, e.g. gender studies or area
related to ending violence against women; a first-level university degree or
equivalent in combination with relevant training and/or professional experience
may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree;
