Job Purpose
To operate mobile plant machinery used throughout the power station to transport coal, ash and other materials in an efficient and safe manner in accordance with the laid down standards.

Framework for Operation - The jobholders works within procedures.

Tools and Equipment - The jobholder uses complex tools and equipment.

Supervision - The jobholder is supervised on the basis of end results.
Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities
​Compliance

  • Works within current compliance processes, systems and procedures and reports shortcomings. Carries out routine inspection on the mobile plant machinery and ensures that it is serviced and maintained accordingly.
Operating Machine or Equipment

  • Operates complex machines, prioritizing routing tasks to improve efficiency and adjusting multiple related variables to resolve production problems. Operates mobile plant machinery to ensure that they are operated in a safe manner for effective loading and maintaining of ash/ coal storage.
Document Management

  • Maintains files and records by following established procedures.
Facilities

  • Ensure machinery is clean and roadworthy, including removing ash from installed safety equipment such as tail, brake and turn signal lenses when engaged in ash hauling duties. Reports problems and/or issues with facilities.
Installation, Maintenance and Repair

  • Performs simple installation, maintenance and repair tasks under close supervision while following detailed instructions.
Quality
Performs relatively simple quality sampling and inspection of products and/or processes.

Safety, Health and Environment
Supports others by carrying out simple safety, health and environment tasks using established procedures.
Qualifications
  • ​Secondary Education BGSCE/IGSCE or Equivalent. Recognized Special Type H License or Madirelo. A valid Botswana Drivers License.​
Experience
  • ​​A minimum of 2 years experience operating mobile plant machinery in a related industry.​
