Job Purpose
To install, maintain and repair mechanical plant and
equipment and manufacture parts by use of basic hand tools and carry out basic
turning.
Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities
- Carries
out routine services on conveyor belts.
- Carries
out conveyor belts repairs and or replacements by mechanical splicing,
replacement of idler rollers and scrapers.
- Carries
out routine services on oil and air filters, purification system and other
systems in plant.
- Caries
out services and repairs on simple mono pumps, valves’ packing and
cartridges.
- Manufactures
parts and tools through use of basic hand tools and simple turning.
- Performs
messenger/driver duties; collects and delivers tools and equipment for the
department.
- Assists
Mechanical Artisan on major jobs’ repair and services as and required.
- Cleans
and keeps work areas clean.
UNDERTAKES ANY OTHER SUCH RELATED DUTIES AS DIRECTED
BY THE SUPERVISOR.

Qualifications
- Trade
Test B in Mechanical Fitting and Class ‘B’ Drivers license
Experience
- At least
two years relevant experience in industrial mechanical plant maintenance
environment

Job Challenges
- Working
under extreme heat temperatures, pressures, heights and dusty conditions.
