Job Purpose

​To maintain and monitor power plant auxiliaries and equipment in accordance with plant equipment specifications, operations procedures and housekeeping standards to ensure the safe and uninterrupted operation of the power plant.​

Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities

​Operating Equipment & Machine

• Locally operates auxiliary plant and equipment to ensure output is in accordance with set specifications.
• Monitors plant auxiliaries, identifying faults, reporting defects to ensure that plant is operating continuously at its optimum efficiency.
• Assists in the start-up and shutdown processes of the power plant and auxiliaries to ensure that requirements are met.

Maintenance & Repairs

• Carries out running, standby and shutdown plant routine checks, identifies and reports auxiliary equipment defects to enable effective repairs.
• Collates auxiliary data of running plant and standby conditions accurately and timeously for performance monitoring.

Housekeeping

• Cleans auxiliary plant and equipment including the removal of spillages
• Cleans all working areas on completion of work carried out
• Carries out general cleaning of plant and equipment and other areas.
• Safe keeping of tools and equipment used.

Safety, Health and Environment

• Work in accordance with policies and rules, while performing routine safety checks on own equipment and workspace.
• Participates in safety inspections and reports on findings to maintain safety of personnel and good housekeeping of the plant.
• Contribute to risk assessments

Qualifications

• ​BGCSE
• Trade Test C in Mechanical or Electrical or equivalent
• Driver’s License 

Experience

• Entry Point.
• Experience in handling mechanical equipment and tools would be an added advantage​

• Critical faults /breakdown analysis under pressure for quick plant restoration
• Being available for emergency call outs and required to work abnormal hours when required
