Job Purpose
To plan, organise and control the operation of Coal and Ash
handling plants and the fuel oil supplies to ensure the continuous availability
of coal and efficient disposal of ash in accordance with BPC procedures and
safety, health and environment standards.
Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities
- Organises
and co-ordinates the daily activities of working teams in the coal and ash
plant section, in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Prepares
the daily work load schedule for the Coal and Ash plants
- Oversees
periodic safety inspections and insures that safety risks that are
identified are addressed in a timely manner.
- Checks
the standard and quality of work including housekeeping and maintenance
work and issues instructions for remedial action.
- Diagnoses
faults on coal and ash plants and equipment and takes remedial actions to
ensure effective repair and maintenance of equipment.
- Monitors
stock levels of coal and fuel oil supply maintaining record of usage and
raising requests for new stock.
- Prepares
periodic fuel usage and consumption reports.
- Checks
to ensure that vehicles and machinery are sent for service in accordance
with service schedules

Qualifications
- Diploma
in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Experience
- At
least five (5) years experience in power plant operation environment.
