FACULTY OF EDUCATION
VACANCY NO. FE/EDF 1/2016: LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN GENDER EDUCATION,
DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATIONS (2 year contract position)
Duties: The
successful candidate will be expected to: i) teach gender education courses at
undergraduate and graduate level, supervise research essays/dissertations and
teaching practice; ii) provide academic leadership and mentor junior academic
staff in the area of gender education, iii) participate in all academic and
professional activities of the department including research and curriculum
reviews; iv) carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of the
Department.
Requirements: Lecturer: Applicants should hold: (i) a Master’s
degree, preferably PhD in Gender Education or a related area. (ii) a Bachelor’s
Degree in Gender Education or a related area with at least 2(i) pass/GPA of at
least 3.6 or equivalent (iii) evidence of engagement in research and service.
Senior Lecturer: Applicants should hold: (i) a Master’s degree, preferably PhD
in Gender Education or a related area. (ii) a Bachelor’s Degree in Gender
Education or a related area with at least 2(i) pass/GPA of at least 3.6 or
equivalent (iii) a minimum of three (3) years university teaching experience
(iv) show evidence of a sustained record or scholarly research and publications
with at least six (6) pieces of research products (e.g. books, book chapters,
journal articles) and/or creative work with at least four (4) of these being
refereed journal articles reflecting a spread of national regional and
international journals and/or publishing outlets. The applicant must be the
lead or single author in at least two (2) refereed journal publications or book
chapters; and (v) evidence of engagement in service. Academic leadership and
evidence of good academic grounding in gender education specialty will be added
advantages. The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of
publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published,
name(s) of publishers and name(s) of co-authors if any. Publications should be
categorized into: books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters
in books, etc.
