CHAUFFEUR FOR US EMBASSY CDC IN GABORONE, BOTWANA; FSN-03/FP-BB

SALARY: P63,219 p.a. (Starting salary)
The U.S. Embassy, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC/BOTSWANA) in Gaborone is seeking two individuals for the position of Chauffeur.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:
 Serves as chauffeur/driver for CDC Botswana; responsible for driving and maintaining CDC’s official vehicles; transports health care workers, CDC employees within Gaborone and other areas of Botswana in order to perform official duties; delivers and picks up official documents, supplies, correspondence, packages and lab samples at government offices, clinics, hospitals, and businesses; meets and assists new arrivals and official visitors at the airport and other official functions; closely observes security guidelines and instruction in the operation of US Government vehicles; provides daily routine maintenance on vehicles and ensures they are clean, neat, and safe working condition for all roads

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
-- Completion of Secondary School
-- Two years chauffeur experience
--Level II English ability and Level IV Setswana fluent is required.
--General knowledge of automotive maintenance, maintenance practices and procedures and vehicle safety; familiar with local traffic laws, area traffic patterns, knowledge of Gaborone and surrounding Botswana areas; knowledge of effective cleaning methods and of supplies and equipment used in cleaning of vehicles.
--Must be able to operate various vehicles and have a good driving record and ability to lift 25 kilograms or the weight of a diplomatic mail pouch
--Must have a valid driver’s license.

SELECTION PROCESS
When fully qualified, U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and U.S. Veterans are given preference.  Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA
1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
3. Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
4. Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
5. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
