The positions are currently tenable at the BIUST, OCAAT Campus in Oodi but will within 2014 relocate permanently to the University Campus in Palapye.The successful candidates will initially be appointed on fixed term contracts of up to five years.

Main Purpose of the Job
• BIUST is a research University. In this context Academic Staff at BIUST are expected to strengthen teaching and research of the university and enhance student learning.
• It is essential that Academic staff is strongly engaged in research to improve their academic credentials and to establish themselves in an internationally recognised research area relevant to Botswana
•Supervising graduate students is an essential component of research engagement. Academic are expected to be extensively involved in with supervising graduate student research
•to train and educate undergraduate and graduates students, using and developing new and appropriate teaching methods, including e-learning and student cantered learning

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE PER POSITION
1. PROFESSOR Minimum requirements; A PhD in the relevant field and a minimum of ten (10) years post-doctoral experience in teaching and research in the field together either an excellent record of international publications as well as experience in the successful supervision of doctoral students.

2. PROFESSOR AND HEAD OF DEPARTMENT Minimum requirements; A PhD in the field relevant to the Department and must be a Professor or meet the requirements of a Professor (as stated above). In addition, must have a minimum of three(3)years’ experience in and academic leadership role.

3. ASSOCIATE PROFESSORS Minimum requirements; A PhD in the relevant field and a minimum of 6years experience post-doctoral experience in teaching and research in the relevant field together with an excellent record of international publications. Experience in the successful supervision of postgraduate students.

4 SENIOR LECTURERS Minimum requirements; A PhD in the relevant field and a minimum of 3years post-doctoral experience in teaching and research in the relevant field together with excellent record of international publications

5.LECTURERS Minimum requirements; A PhD in the relevant field together with a record of international publications A demonstrated capability to teach will be an added advantage
The positions require the following competencies:
•setting up and or being engaged intensively in research groups
•producing peer-reviewed research output particularly through team work
•being familiar with methods of e-Learning and student cantered learning
•ability to communicate complex ideas
