U.S Embassy Botswana Vacancies

The U.S E embassy, in Gaborone is seeking individuals for the following position:

1. DATA ENTRY CLERK; FSN- 5/FP-9 ; N14/1
(P67, 316 p.a starting salary per year + benefits) based in Gaborone

Length of Hire: not to exceed 1 year from date of hire

Basic Function of the Position:

•The Data Clerk will be responsible for entering data on existing data collection forms and transfer them to a computer
•Responsible for solving errors on printed forms and for the contact point for routine reporting of data received for CDC/Botswana TB Project Sites.

Qualifications required:

•Secondary education followed by graduation certificate from certified computer training college is required
•2 years data entry experience is required
•Fluent in English and Setswana
•Must have comprehensive knowledge of computer data input equipment, process and procedures. Knowledge of Access, Epilnfo and Clindex programs are an advantage.
•Must be able to type at least 40 words per minute; Communicates well with management to identify and resolve problems in data entry.

2. RADIO TECHNICIAN; FSN 07/FP ; N14/09

(P103, 775 p.a starting salary per year + benefits) based in Selebi- Phikwe

Basic Function of the Position:

•Operate and maintain high power short wave and medium wave transmitters, antenna systems, and FR distribution systems.
•In addition, install, operate and maintain sophisticated electronic equipment used for the control and delivery of audio and data signals, as well as full standby power generating facilities, works on rotation shifts.

Qualifications required:

•Completion of secondary school plus 2 years post secondary curriculum in electronics technology is required.
•Two years experience in short- wave radio broadcasting electronics or similar technical communications field is required
•Fluent in English
•Practical knowledge in the maintenance and operation of HF and medium wave transmitters (to 500 kw), high power RF antenna system, audio and communications equipment, and analog/digital control systems.
•Must have a fundamental knowledge of safety procedures and cardiovascular pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
•Must have ability to maintain and operate HF radio equipment and a variety of ancillary electronic equipment and skills in utilizing complex electronic test equipment.
•Must possess and maintain a valid Botswana driver’s licence.
