My client is currently seeking 3 x Mining Managers for their
various new projects in South Africa.
Initially responsible for delivery of the new mine (currently in project phase), in line with the business objectives. Once the mine is established, the Mining Manager is responsible for leading the mining team in the cost-effective optimisation and extraction of the ore body, and to ensure compliance with provisions of the Mine Health and Safety Act and the Minerals Act.
Responsibilities:
Control, manage and direct contractors and employees
Day to day management and operation of the mine
Take all reasonable measures to ensure the health and safety of contractor and own employees, and the observance of appropriate levels of discipline at the mine.
Take all reasonable measures to ensure that the provisions of the Mine Health and Safety Act and the Minerals Act and its regulations (as may be amended from time to time) are implemented and adhered to by contractors and own employees.
Initiate, prepare and implement the relevant codes of practice ensure that effective maintenance is carried out, hazard identification occurs, and that adequate medical monitoring records are maintained;
Prepare and/or review the mine's health and safety policy;
Compile and control the mining budget
Manage subordinates , providing training and development for the mining team.
Maintain an effective risk identification and management system.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
Graduate in mining engineering
Mine Manager's Certificate
Opencast mines & mining projects with capacity of > 50MT rock excavation
Adequate exposure to geology/geo-technique/mine planning
Sound knowledge of mine statutory and regulatory requirements, and opencast mining methods
Adequate knowledge of mine capital costs/ operation costs
Contractual information:
All roles are permanent, residential status and South African citizens only need apply.
