Mission and objectives
UNICEF is the UN Children's Fund and our most important task
is to create lasting change for children and protect their rights. As the
world's largest children's organization, and an important part of the UN, we
have a unique impact in over 190 countries. We fight to save children's lives,
protect the most vulnerable and build a better future for all the world's
children. UNICEF Denmark is one of a total of 34 national support committees
for UNICEF. The support committees work to raise money for UNICEF's international
work, and to inform both children and adults about children's rights. In
Denmark, a large number of schools today have the status of UNICEF Rights
School, where children's rights are deeply integrated into the way the school
works. We also make a great effort to show how children in the poor part of the
world live. That's why we offer educational materials so students can learn
about the conditions their peers around the world grow up in. In Greenland, we
work closely with the Government of Greenland to strengthen children's rights.
UNICEF's work for the world's children is entirely dependent on voluntary
contributions. We are a member of ISOBRO, which is the trade association for
all collection organizations in Denmark.
Context
The fundamental mission of UNICEF is to promote the rights
of every child, everywhere, in everything the organization does — in programs,
in advocacy and in operations. The equity strategy, emphasizing the most
disadvantaged and excluded children and families, translates this commitment to
children’s rights into action. For UNICEF, equity means that all children have
an opportunity to survive, develop and reach their full potential, without
discrimination, bias or favoritism. To the degree that any child has an unequal
chance in life — in its social, political, economic, civic and cultural
dimensions — her or his rights are violated. There is growing evidence that
investing in the health, education and protection of a society’s most
disadvantaged citizens — addressing inequity — not only will give all children
the opportunity to fulfill their potential but also will lead to sustained
growth and stability of countries. This is why the focus on equity is so vital.
It accelerates progress towards realizing the human rights of all children,
which is the universal mandate of UNICEF, as outlined by the Convention on the
Rights of the Child, while also supporting the equitable development of
nations. Supply Division translate children’s human rights into action by
enhancing access to the essential supplies and services needed for children to
survive, thrive and realize their human rights and full potential. Together
with public and private partners, UNICEF identifies bottlenecks or gaps in
markets and works to address these with long-term sustainable solutions –
regardless of whether challenges are related to product features, delivery
systems and capacities, or local and global disruptions. In 2022, UNICEF
procured more than $7.3 billion worth of essential, life-saving supplies and services
for children, and works in partnership to influence markets, strengthening
supply chain systems and tackle disruptions. Partnerships is at the core of
Supply Division’s work, being essential to achieving large scale change and
impact. Strategic partnerships is thus one of Supply Division’s strategies and
we seek to leverage the combined strengths (the expertise, technologies,
networks and resources) of public and private partners and UNICEF to – based on
shared interests - advance access to essential supplies and services. The key
focus areas for shared value partnerships with the private sector include
emergency response, supply chain system strengthening, building sustainable and
resilient supply chains, datasharing solutions and professionalization of the
logistics workforce. The objective is to contribute to strengthening and
optimizing UNICEF and government supply chains and supporting systems and
people skills, in order to enhance equitable access to essential supplies for
children - such as vaccines, medicines, medical devices and testing kits, and
water, sanitation and education products.
Task description
Partnerships are at the core of UNICEF’s approach and
essential to achieving large scale change and impact. UNICEF Supply Division is
looking for an UNV who supports UNICEF’s mission, is passionate about
partnerships and is ready to help create partnerships that can make a real
difference. Starting as soon as possible, the UNV will support Supply
Division’s engagement with the private sector, with the overall objective of
developing partnerships, which enable UNICEF’s supply strategies. The UNV will
be based in the Private Sector Partnership Unit and report to the head of the
unit. The Private Sector Partnership team is part of Supply Division’s Strategy,
Partnership, Knowledge Management Centre (SPKC). Beyond developing and managing
partnerships related to supply, the team is also coordinating private sector
engagement with the wider UNICEF in particular the Private and Public Sector
Fundraising and Partnership Divisions, and UNICEF National Committees. The team
is also coordinating the assessment of donations in-kind. The UNV will: 1.
Support coordination of private sector related events and preparation of larger
meetings at UNICEF Supply Division and elsewhere. UNICEF Supply Division hosts
larger private sector partnership meetings as well as a number of high-level
bilateral meetings every year. 2. Contribute to the implementation of
contributions-in-kind from key logistics partners. The main task here will be
to in collaboration with the partnership lead, coordinate the implementation of
donations of freight of UNICEF supplies (air, sea and road transport) as well
as warehousing services. A number of logistics partners are leveraging their
assets and logistics networks in support of UNICEF’s emergency response. The
UNV will support the partnership lead with the implementation (matching of
UNICEF needs and partners’ capacity, coordination between the relevant teams in
UNICEF and the counterparts on the partner side, support communication, being
responsible for recording of the donation on the UNICEF side). In addition,
supporting streamlining the process so it becomes as smooth as possible. 3.
Support the processing of ad hoc in-kind donations. With support from the
partnership officer liaise with the technical teams in Supply Division to
enable proper assessment of the goods being offered, support country offices
with the processing and recording of the donations. Maintain the tracker of
donations and prepare an annual report and presentations as relevant. 4.
Depending on time and skill set, the UNV may also support with one or more of
the following areas: - Implementation of activities under specific partnerships

Supply related needs (development of concept notes on needs and solutions as to
how they might be addressed) - Partnership strategy framework -
Learning/monitoring of partnerships - Support to communication/messaging and
advocacy Required Skills and Experience -Candidates with some expertise related
to Supply Chain Management, Humanitarian Emergency Preparedness and Response
(supply-related preferably) and/or partnership management and development are
preferred. Partnership experience should be understood in the broad sense in
terms of experience with work which is dependent on internal and external
partners to succeed. Experience related to development of business
cases/investment cases or resource mobilization or partnerships management
related work such as external relations management, liaison work, is all of
interest. Private sector partnerships experience is desired, including ESG
reporting and multistakeholder engagements. - Ability to implement clear goals
that are consistent with agreed strategies, identify priority activities and
assignments and adjust priorities as required; -Self-motivated, ability to work
