SENIOR LECTURER IN POLITICAL SCIENCE – Two (2) year
contract (BDF Funded Position)
VACANCY NO: FSS/ PAS 1/ 2019
Duties: The successful applicant will be
expected to teach undergraduate as well as post-graduate courses and must have
a solid background in Political Science. The applicants must have demonstrable
capacity to teach at least three of the following courses: Critical Thinking,
Advanced Strategic Studies, International Security, International Peace
Keeping, Human Rights in World Politics, Security, Conflict and War, Foreign
Policy Analysis, Research Methods; Analysis of National Security Policies,
Theories and Practice in Civil Military Relations and Ethics and Good
Governance in Defence Establishments.
Requirements: Applicants must have: (i) at least
a MA/ MSc. in Political Science; (ii) a Bachelors’ Degree in Political Science
or related fields with at least a 2(i) pass / GPA of at least 3.6; (iii) at
least 3 years of teaching experience at a university or
comparable institution and capacity to teach at least three of the above listed
courses; (iv) a good and sustained record of research and publications with at
least 6 publications, 4 of which are peer
reviewed journal articles; (v) lead and/or single author in at least 2 refereed
journal articles or book chapters; (vi) applicants should demonstrate evidence
of service; (vii) a relevant PhD, capacity to handle short-term executive
training courses and demonstration of effective academic leadership will
be added advantages. The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list
of publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published,
name(s) of publishers and name(s) of co-authors if any. Publications should be
categorized into: books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals,
chapters in books, etc.
Remuneration: The University offers a

qualifications.
