Requirements:

The following will be added advantages: a strong methodological and statistical component at Masters’ level; conducted empirical research with a thesis as a component of the Master’s Degree; a PhD in Industrial/ Organisational Psychology; a good record of research and publications in refereed and reputable journals and journal outlets; academic leadership; teaching experience at a tertiary level or comparable institution.

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR   (Re-advertisement)

The Department of Psychology was only established in 2004 and is, therefore, looking for an innovative psychologist who can assist in developing psychology as an academic and professional discipline in Botswana.

Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to: (i) teach psychology courses; (ii) provide clinical supervision to students; (iii) supervise research projects; (iv) initiate, promote and participate in research; (v) provide academic leadership through programme development, clinical consultation, and research; (vi) act as a mentor to junior academic staff; (vii) raise / solicit research funds from funding agencies within and outside the country; (viii) participate in all academic and professional activities of the department; (ix) carry out any other responsibilities as and when assigned by the Head of Department.

Requirements:
 Candidates should have (i) at least a Master’s Degree in Clinical or Counselling Psychology from a recognized university or institution with accredited Psychology programmes; (ii) an Undergraduate Degree in Psychology (e.g. Bachelor of Psychology, BA or BSc in Psychology combined or single major) from a recognized institution with at least a 2(i) pass or equivalent; (iii) at least 5 years of teaching experience at a University or comparable institution; (iv) have a good and sustained record of research and publications with at least 12 publications, 8 of which should be refereed journal articles in Psychology discipline; lead and/ or single authored in at least 6 refereed journal articles or book chapters; (v) evidence of service to University, the Profession and the Community; (vi) evidence of effective academic leadership; (vii) the following will be added advantages: an earned Psy.D. or Ph.D. in Clinical or Counselling Psychology; at least one year supervised internship; registered or eligible to be registered with the Botswana Health Professions Council (BHPC); experience in supervising students’ research projects and clinical work. The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published, name(s) of publishers and name(s) of co-authors if any. Publications should be categorized into: books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc.

Purpose of the Project Manager:
The Project Manager will oversee and direct the EPCM contractor and ensure the optimum development of the Khoemacau resources within the guidelines and standards of operability.

Key areas of responsibility:
  • To provide project direction during the design phase and responsibility during the construction phase;

Requirements
Experience and Technical Skills:
  • Relevant BSc Engineering degree plus relevant Project Management qualification;

  • Applicants must have previously managed projects in remote locations;

  • BSc (Hons) relevant Geoscience degree plus minimum 8 years post qualification experience in an Exploration and Mining environment.
  • Experience in coal exploration and mining projects will be an added advantage
  • Membership of a professional body will be advantageous
  • Valid Light duty Drivers’ license
  • Understanding of SHE Management Systems (ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001).
Technical knowledge:
  • Knowledge of work processes involved in coal exploration, evaluation and mining.
  • Planning and management of drilling exploration programs.
  • Geological and geotechnical core logging and down-hole geophysical log interpretation.
  • Core handling, core sampling and knowledge of coal quality analyses.
  • Advanced knowledge of Grade Control and Resource reconciliation practices in an open pit and underground mines
  • Advanced knowledge of computer aided resource modelling and estimation techniques.
  • Advanced proficiency in using Micromine modelling software.
  • Advanced proficiency in using GBIS Data Management software or any other comparable software.

EMPLOYEE RELATIONS ADVISOR

Job Summary
To interpret Employee Relations Advisor’s requirements and implement ER processes to support, maintain, integrate and co-ordinate activities/projects in area of responsibility.

Key Effectiveness Areas
  • Recommends and incorporates cost saving initiatives into budgets
  • Monitors compliance to all collective agreements and recommends any process amendments for discussion between management and the union.
  • Analyses Employee Relations trends mine wide through climate surveys, and various forums and recommends appropriate course of action to management
  • Facilitates implementation of resolutions coming out of consultative forums (e.g ONCC) and monitors compliance
  • Represents the company in mediation, arbitration and at the industrial court
  • Provides advice and guidance in all aspects of Employee Relations practices to HRBPs and Line Managers and ensures that sound employee relations practices are promoted by line Management
  • Coordinates the review of policies and procedures and monitors compliance through audits
  • Analyses and compiles employee relations reports, monitors trends, highlights problem areas and makes recommendations to management.
  • Provides Employee Relations Training for the operation
  • Identifies and manages the implementation of and adherence to legal and corporate governance - principles/requirements
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with all key stakeholders and partners to ensure achievement of business objectives
  • Adheres to all safety health and environmental policies and procedures in area of responsibility
Requirements
Minimum requirements
  • BGCSE plus Degree in Social Sciences or Equivalent
  • 5 years post graduate experience, three of which must have been at officer level
  • Knowledge of SHE Management Systems (ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001).

Job Summary:

Key Activities:
  • Compiles and monitors the section’s budget, approves sectional expenditure within budget.

Requirements
Minimum Education, Training & Experience Requirements
  • Commercial, Science or Engineering Degree appropriate to Mining or Coal technology and/or Marketing coupled with 3 years in
  • Marketing and/or Mining and/or heavy industry 2 years of which should be at supervisory level.
  • Valid Light duty drivers’ license
  • Understanding of SHE Management Systems (ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001).

Botswana Harvard AIDS Institute Partnership (BHP) seeks an assertive, result oriented, strategic thinker with good interpersonal skills to fill the above position.
BHP requires a software developer with analytical skills to join the software development and data management team. BHP makes extensive use of open-source software tools to develop in-house complex critical data systems for its routine laboratory, research laboratory, pharmacy and clinics. The candidate must have a strong software development background and be willing to write code in a team.
Principal Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Director of Data Operations, the candidate will be expected to:
  • Design, develop, maintain and deploy new and existing clinical research, laboratory and survey systems.
  • Prepare for and participate in system and data audits
  • Maintain documentation and adhere to strict change management procedures
  • Prepare datasets for monitoring and analysis
  • Liaise with stakeholders as required
  • Maintain documentation and strict source code version control

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum of three (3) years work experience working with complex data and developing and maintaining data-driven applications in a similar environment. Relevant certifications are an advantage.
