EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY - PROJECT MANAGER - KHOEMACAU COPPER MINING

Khoemacau Copper Mining is looking to recruit a Project Manager.

Purpose of the Project Manager:
The Project Manager will oversee and direct the EPCM contractor and ensure the optimum development of the Khoemacau resources within the guidelines and standards of operability.

Key areas of responsibility:

• To provide project direction during the design phase and responsibility during the construction phase;
• To ensure that the full scope of the Project is completed on schedule and within the approved budget;
• To ensure all quality goals of the project are met;
• To implement project scope and cost controls, monitor work performance, and institute programs to identify, document, and manage trends, variances, and contingency drawdowns;
• To review project progress and ensure timely and accurate forecasts of schedule and cost;
• To recommend and assist in the recruitment of the project team, in consultation with the Project Director;
• To ensure that a realistic Project implementation schedule is established, including commissioning and production build up rates;
• To establish the most suitable approach to the Project implementation;
• Direct the commissioning up to the point of handover to the operating personnel;
• Ensure a smooth handover between project and operational personnel;
• Responsible for the completion of a Project close-out report;
• Ensure finalisation of all contracts;
• Coach, mentor and train junior staff ; and
• Ensure all personnel are in compliance with the Company’s security and SHE objectives.

Requirements

Experience and Technical Skills:

• Relevant BSc Engineering degree plus relevant Project Management qualification;
• Proven track record in the management and the commissioning of large mining projects;
• Professional membership of the ERB in Botswana;
• Applicants must have a minimum of 15 years’ project related experience;
• Applicants must have previously managed projects in remote locations;
• Applicant must be a competent manager and leader in a multidisciplinary team environment; and
• Have excellent communication and people skills.

Candidates will be evaluated against their ability to develop and maintain constructive relationships with project partners, local communities, and regulatory stakeholders. Individuals accustomed to working in unstructured environments with limited resources and who have flexibility to wear many different hats, while guiding their business through project development into production, will be preferred.

The successful candidate will report to the Project Director and will be based on site.

Khoemacau Copper Mining (Pty) Ltd is a Botswana registered company that holds nine prospecting licences and two mining licences in the north-west of Botswana. The company comprises two operations, namely the Boseto operation and the Qhoree (Zone 5) operation.
