Main Job Functions:
- Manage
the planning and implementation of Research and Development projects
(adaptation or enhancement of existing technologies, development of new
technologies).
- Direct
research agenda focused on coal chemistry and characterisation of coal
derived products.
- Design/construction
or trouble shooting of high temperature or pressurised processing
equipment.
- The
candidate is required to have organisational skills to work on multiple
projects and competing priorities as well as demonstrate a broad knowledge
of coal gasification/combustion technology development.
Education
- A
PhD in Organic, Inorganic, or Physical Chemistry with emphasis on advanced
separation and characterisation skills.
Experience and working knowledge
- 10
years of experience in research environment including 3-4 years of program
management exposure.
- Excellent
communication skills and ability to prepare experimental plans and
technical reports.
- Understanding
of economic valuations of chemical processes.
- Demonstrated
strong leadership skills.
- Industrial
experience will be an added advantage.
- Relevant
scientific publications in the area will be of added advantage.
REMUNERATION
BITRI offers attractive working conditions and remuneration
commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is on five (5)
years fixed term contracts of employment.
