BITRI VACANCIES - JUNIOR RESEARCHER, CLIMATE CHANGE SCIENCE

Main Purpose of the Job:

• Weather and climate data analysis for trend and extreme events detection.
• Develop and contribute to methodologies to forecast the impact of research for development on development outcomes and impacts.
• Write policy briefs.
• Develop research concept notes and proposals for seeking external research funding.

Education:

• BSc in Environmental Science and Mathematics is required.

Essential Skills and Experience:

No experience is required, but prior research exposure in the following areas will be of added advantage:

• Recent experience in trend analysis and simulation modeling, leveraging on statistical  concepts and climatology.
• Hands on experience in uncertainty quantification in climate prediction.
• Working knowledge of a programming language on a Linux platform.

REMUNERATION

BITRI offers attractive working conditions and remuneration commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is on five (5) years fixed term contracts of employment.
