The
Council of the University of Botswana invites applications for the post of
Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs). Preference will be given to
suitably qualified applicants who are citizens of Botswana.
The
University of Botswana was established in 1982 as the first university in
Botswana and has to date grown to a complement of 2, 417 academic and support
staff, 15,671 full-time students and 2,505 part-time students. It is
a comprehensive university that includes the Faculties of Business, Education,
Engineering and Technology, Health Sciences, Medicine, Humanities, Social
Sciences, Science; a School of Graduate Studies; a Centre for Continuing
Education; a Centre for Academic Development; a Directorate of Research and
Development; and the Okavango Research Institute.
In
addition, the University has an associate college, the Botswana College of
Agriculture, and a number of affiliated institutions that include six Colleges
of Education and eight Institutes of Health Sciences.
Key purpose of the job
Reporting
to the Vice Chancellor, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs) provides
strategic advice and coordinates the development, effective implementation and
review of policies that promote student welfare, a productive learning
environment, good governance and cordial relations, through effective
consultative dialogue between the University authorities and the student body.

Minimum Qualifications
· A
Masters degree in a relevant Behavioral Science.
Minimum Experience
· Six
(6) years relevant experience at senior management level with responsibility
for student matters.
· Experience
working with students in a higher education institution will be an added
advantage

Date
The successful candidate should be prepared to assume office on 1st January 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Duration
of the Contract
The
initial contract shall be for a term not exceeding five (5) years, which may be
renewed by the University Council for another term not exceeding five (5)
years.
Salary
and Benefits
The
remuneration package for the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs) includes
a competitive salary and other benefits commensurate with the position.

Duties:
The successful applicant will be expected to:
(i) teach courses in Industrial Engineering and
related areas at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
(ii) participate in all academic and professional
activities including research and supervision of research projects;
(iii) carry out any other duties that will be
assigned by the Head of Department.

FET/A&P 2/2015: SENIOR LECTURER/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/PROFESSOR IN
ARCHITECTURE, DEPARTMENT OF ARCHITECTURE AND PLANNING (sabbatical position)
Applications are invited for a one year
(renewable) sabbatical position at the rank of Professor / Associate Professor
/ Senior Lecturer tenable in the Architecture Programme of the Department of
Architecture and Planning. Duties: The successful candidate is expected to
provide academic leadership through enhancement of teaching, research and
review of the Architecture Programme. In addition, the candidate is expected to
assist in the formulation of a strategic vision for the programme.
Requirements:
Senior Lecturer: Candidates must have
(i) attained the rank of a Senior Lecturer;
(ii) at least 3 years university teaching
experience or equivalent;
(iii) a five-year Bachelors degree in Architecture
or any other cognate subject with at least a 2(i) pass or a GPA of at least 3.6
or equivalent;
(iv) a post professional Masters degree in
Architecture or any other cognate subject; and
(v) minimum of six (6) pieces of published
research products at least 4 of which are refereed journal articles;
(vi) lead and/or single author in at least 2
refereed journal articles or book chapters; (vii) evidence of engagement in
service. . A PhD in Architecture or close cognate subject will be added
advantage.
Associate Professor: Candidates must have
(i) attained the rank of a Senior Lecturer;
(ii) at least 5 years university teaching
experience or equivalent;
(iii) a five-year Bachelors degree in Architecture
or any other cognate subject;
(iv) a post professional Masters degree in Architecture
or any other cognate subject;
(v) minimum of twelve (12) pieces of published
research products at least 8 of which are refereed journal articles.
(vi) lead and/or single author in at least 6
refereed journal articles or book chapters; (vii) evidence of engagement in
service to the university, the profession and the community; (viii) evidence of
effective academic leadership. A PhD in Architecture or close cognate subject
will be added advantage.
Professor: Candidates must have
(i) attained the rank of a Senior Lecturer;
(ii) at least 8 years university teaching
experience or equivalent;
(iii) a five-year Bachelors degree in Architecture
or any other cognate subject;
(iv) a post professional Masters degree in
Architecture or any other cognate subject;
(v) minimum of twenty four (24) pieces of
published research products at least 12 of which are refereed journal articles;
(vi) lead and/or single author in at least 10
refereed journal articles or book chapters; (vii) evidence of engagement in
service to the university, the profession and the community; (viii) evidence of
effective academic leadership. A PhD in Architecture or close cognate subject
will be added advantage.
