Duties: The successful applicant will be expected to: (i) teach Psychology courses; (ii) conduct research in his/ her area of expertise; (iii) provide service to the community through the Psychology clinic; (iv) coordinate all clinic activities including: (i) staffing; (ii) case management (including records and archives); (iii) supervision of interns and practicum students; (iv) provide training to interns; (v) initiate, promote and participate in outreach activities; (vi) ensure that policies and procedures of the clinic are strictly adhered to by students, interns, and staff; (vii) provide counseling at the Clinic; (viii) collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and (ix) to carry-out any other duties and responsibilities as may be directed by the Head of Department.

Requirements: The
applicants should have: (i) at least a Master’s
Degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology with supervised internship of at
least one year from a recognized University or institution with accredited
Psychology programs; (ii) a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology (e.g. Bachelor
of Psychology, BA or BSc in Psychology) from a recognized institution with at
least a 2(i) pass. Preference will be given to a single major in
Psychology; (iii) must have conducted empirical research with a thesis
as a component of the Master’s Degree; (iv) show evidence of engagement in
research and service. (v) The following will be added
advantages: a relevant PhD; experience in running a Psychology Clinic; a good record of
research and publications in refereed and reputable journals and journal
outlets; teaching experience at a University or comparable
institution and demonstration of effective academic leadership.

SENIOR LECTURER/ LECTURER

The Department of Psychology is looking for an innovative
psychologists who can assist in developing psychology as an academic and
professional discipline in Botswana.
SENIOR LECTURER
Duties: The successful applicant should be
able to; (i) teach psychology courses; (ii) supervise research projects,
(iii) initiate, promote and participate in research; (iv) provide academic
leadership through programme development and research; (v) act as a mentor to
junior academic staff; (vi) participate in all academic and professional
activities of the Department; (vii) provide service to the Community,
University, and Profession. (viii) Carry out any other duties and
responsibilities as and when assigned by the Head of Department.
Requirements: The applicants should
have; (i) At least a Masters’ Degree in a relevant field of Psychology
from a recognized University or institution with accredited psychology programs
and must have conducted empirical research with a thesis as a component of the
master’s degree; (ii) an Undergraduate Degree in Psychology (e.g. Bachelor
of Psychology, BA or BSc in Psychology) from a recognized institution with at
least a 2(i) pass; (iii) at least three (3) years teaching experience
at a University or comparable institution with accredited psychology
programmes; (iv) an excellent cumulative and sustained record of research and
publication and experience in supervising students’ research projects; (v) at
least 6 publications, 4 of which must be peer reviewed journal articles in the
discipline of Psychology; (vi) Lead and/or single author in at least 2 refereed
journal articles or book chapters; (vii) applicants should demonstrate
evidence of service; (vii) a relevant PhD and demonstration of
effective academic leadership will be added advantages. The curriculum vitae
(CV) should contain a detailed list of publications; clearly specifying titles
of publications, dates published, name(s) of publishers and name(s) of
co-authors if any. Publications should be categorized into: books, monographs,
refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc.
LECTURER

expected to: (i) teach any Undergraduate Psychology courses, (ii) supervise
students’ research projects, (iii) conduct research in his/her area of expertise,
(iv) provide service to the university, profession and community, and (v) carry
out any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department.
Requirements: The applicants should have; (i) at
least a Masters’ Degree in a relevant field of Psychology from a recognized
University or institution with accredited Psychology programmes; (ii) an
Undergraduate Degree in Psychology (e.g. Bachelor of Psychology, BA or BSc in

The Council
of the University of Botswana invites applications for the post of Deputy Vice
Chancellor (Finance and Administration). Preference will be given to
suitably qualified applicants who are citizens of Botswana.
The
University of Botswana was established in 1982 as the first university in
Botswana and has to date grown to a complement of 2,417 academic and support
staff, 15,671 full-time students and 2,505 part-time students. It is
a comprehensive university that includes the Faculties of Business, Education,
Engineering and Technology, Health Sciences, Medicine, Humanities, Social
Sciences, Science; a School of Graduate Studies; a Centre for Continuing
Education; a Centre for Academic Development; a Directorate of Research and
Development; and the Okavango Research Institute.

addition, the University has an associate college, the Botswana College of
