PHARMACEUTICAL MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST - UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND BALTIMORE

Job description

University of Maryland Baltimore in Botswana is recruiting for the following positions to support its work in the country and invites all qualifi ed candidates to apply. Please note that successful candidates may be posted anywhere throughout Botswana:
Pharmaceutical Management Specialist (3 positions)
Reports to: Clinical Advisor and Team Leader

Position Summary: 

The position holder will enhance the capacity of pharmaceutical staff at the site level to effectively support comprehensive HIV services.

Requirements

Essential Job Functions:
Augment competences of pharmacy staff for eff effective management of HIV/AIDS ARVs and related commodities
Support sites to collect, analyse and report information related to drugs dispensed and other health care commodities at the facility level
Support set up and institutionalization of functional Drug Therapeutic Committees within facilities
Participate in training pharmaceutical and other health professionals in rational drug prescription, dispensing and use
Support sites to develop and implement targeted improvement plans as part of remediation action
Support sites to institutionalize Good Pharmacy Procedures
Support sites to improve forecasting for HIV/AIDS ARVs and related commodities needs
Support site pharmacy staff to develop and implement appropriate strategies to create a dependable health supply chain system for ARVs and related commodities to meet established demand

Qualifications and Experience:


Bachelor of Pharmacy, preferably with speciality post graduate training
At least 5 years experience in provision of pharmaceutical services for HIV services
Competence in pharmaceutical care and clinical pharmacy
Ability to train and function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Registration with the Botswana Health Professions Council

SENIOR NURSE TRAINER - UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND BALTIMORE

Senior Nurse Trainer
Reports to: Director For Training Systems Development

Position Summary: 

The position holder will coordinate Nurse Prescriber and Dispensing Program and enhance competences of the nursing mentorship team.

Requirements

Essential Job Functions:
Work with various HIV content experts to enrich teaching materials used for Nurse Prescriber and Dispensing Program
Train and mentor Botswana-University of Maryland Health Initiative Nursing staff to carry out all job functions assigned as part of mentorship activities
Participate and deliver specifi c content during didactic training sessions
Supervise candidate Nurse Prescriber trainees during practicum sessions
Manage the Nurse Prescriber and Dispensing Program training schedule
Work with Learning Outcomes Evaluators to measure impact of training on patient care and core competences
Participate in MOH working groups
Enhance capacity of site staff to effectively manage HIV disease and work collaboratively with the mentorship team to implement interventions aimed at addressing identified gaps in nursing care systems during SIMS and other clinical systems assessments

Qualifications and Experience:


Masters degree in Nursing. Family nurse practitioner certification will be a plus.
Current clinical practice as a nurse prescriber preferred
At least 5 years of experience spent in the care of patients affected by HIV/AIDS.
Familiarity in adult learning principles/techniques and demonstrated ability to design and facilitate learning opportunities for adults

FINANCE MANAGER - UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND BALTIMORE

Finance Manager
Reports to: Chief of Party

Position Summary: 

The holder of the position will ensure the program’s finances are managed according to the funder’s rules and regulations, the institution’s policies and procedures, national laws and regulations and according to internationally accepted accounting and financial management standards. In addition the selected individual will provide oversight and monitor sub-grantees and contractors’ financial operation to ensure they are compliant with grant/funding rules and regulations as they will be stipulated and all other applicable laws, rules, policies, procedures and regulations.

Requirements

Essential Job Functions:
Provide oversight for all financial processes and procedures
Prepare monthly management accounts and ensure production of statutory accounts to support decision-making
Monitor expenditure rates of grants, carry out variance analysis and forecasts and advise management on implications
Maintain updated information on donor-reporting requirements and update internal stakeholders on new requirements
Offer treasury management and maintain stewardship and fiduciary responsibility of financial resources;
Actively participate as an expert resource in program budget preparation for the project
Serve as point of contact on grant management and compliance issues
Enhance capacity of project personnel through development and delivery of a compliance training curricula to drive compliance with donor rules
Supervise, guide, coach and manage performance of finance staff .
Qualification and Experience:
Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting with at least 8 years of experience managing large budgets in a reputable organization
Professional Qualifications such as: ACCA, CPA, CIMA are a mandatory requirement
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Advanced computer skills (Ms Office, financial management packages and relational databases)
