The U.S. Embassy in Gaborone is seeking an individual for
the position of USAID Chauffeur.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:
Works in accordance with instructions and schedules provided
by the USAID Country Representative or his/her staff; operates the vehicle
within the capital city, throughout the country and occasional trips to
South Africa to provide transportation services to the Representative and
other employees and visitors; assumes primary responsibility for the assigned
vehicle and ensure the vehicle is properly maintained and essential equipment
such as jacks and other tools in place in order to provide safe transportation
services as well as keeping the vehicle clean inside and out.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
-- Completion of senior secondary equivalent to a U.S. high
school is required
--Four year experience driving a motor vehicle as a
professional Chauffeur is required
--Level III English is required (good working knowledge)
--Must be familiar with host country traffic laws and know
area traffic patterns and the locations of major streets
--Must have excellent defensive driving skills and ability
to deal tactfully with passengers and other drivers in order to defuse
and resolve difficult and potentially volatile situations that may arise during
travel is required
-- Must have a valid local driving license
SELECTION PROCESS
When fully qualified, U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members
(USEFMs) and U.S. Veterans are given preference. Therefore, it is
essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications
above in the application.
ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA
1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of
interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not
eligible to apply.
3. Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall
Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent
Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
4. Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a Family
Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions
within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
5. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services
Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the
first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a
position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule
