Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced personnel to fill the following position;

1.OCCUPATIONAL HYGIENE TECHNOLOGIST

Purpose of Job:

To identify, access and control health hazards in the workplace in a practical and cost effective manner in order to eliminate or significantly reduce risks.

Key Activities:

•Prepares program budgetary requirements
•Undertakes workplace surveys, inspections and evaluates workplace conditions and recommends actions aimed at the prevention of accidents and illnesses.
•Develops a quality assurance system for proficiency testing (measurements and analysis of samples)
•Develops and monitors occupational hygiene procedures and standards
•Designs sampling strategies, sets up samples and sets up a monitoring laboratory
•Identifies various worker exposure groups in order to determine appropriate periodic medical examination programs
•Identifies stressors in the workplace in order to develop corrective action plans
•Trains employees in order to create awareness on the dangers of workplace stressors and how to manage the effects
•Maintains up- to- date and accurate information on the management of stressors
•Adheres to and promote safety, health and environmental policies and procedures

Minimum Education, Training & Experience Requirements:

•Diploma in Occupational Hygiene or equivalent
•2 years’ experience of occupational hygiene practice in a mining/manufacturing environment
•Light duty drivers licence
•Knowledge of SHE Management Systems (ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001)
•Experience in an underground mine will be an added advantage
