PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The technical advisor will have responsibility for overseeing the technical implementation of a project which includes training for physical rehabilitation providers, provision of assistive devices and the provision for the medical and physical rehabilitation needs of civilian victims of war and other people with disabilities. This will include the technical oversight of proposal submissions from potential sub-grantees and the awards once made. The technical advisor will travel to relevant sub-grantees and monitor the quality of their work and arrange for additional training or supervision to ensure that their work meets the required standards. The technical advisor will participate in reviewing sub-grantee reports and support the development of project reports. The technical advisor will also play a key role in setting up data and data collection and in the analysis to inform changes in technical programming to produce better development outcomes. This is a $5 million grant taking place over a period of 3 years.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical Support to Sub-Grantees:
- Conduct
visits to relevant sub-grantees to monitor quality of service
implementation.
- Oversee
training of rehabilitation professionals.
- Provide
technical support to sub-grantees during visits or remotely.
- Development
of technical resources to support sub-grantee implementation.
Technical Oversight: - Report
on the quality of technical implementation by sub-grantees.
- Conduct
technical assessments of potential sub-grantees prior to awards.
Monitoring & Evaluation, Representation & other: - Liaise
with host government service providers and technical officials on
technical issues.
- Discuss
plans and strategies with different technical stakeholders to ensure
proper understanding of the project’s concepts, including time frame.
- Consolidate
technical learning within the project into a manual, training and support
materials.
- Attend
and participate in weekly chapel services and daily devotional meetings.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Required:
- Qualified
physical therapist with at least 5 years of experience in providing
physical rehabilitation in conflict-affected countries.
- Experience
in providing training to rehabilitation professionals desirable.
- Experience
within U.S. Government funded grants desirable.
- Fluency
in English required.
Preferred: - Fluency
in Portuguese or Spanish.
