Arterial Network is a dynamic network of individuals,
organisations, donors, companies and institutions engaged in the African
creative and cultural sector. The organisation seeks to formulate
African-centred strategies and solutions to accelerate the growth and
prominence of the creative sector in Africa, enabling dialogue, information
exchange and the strengthening of partnerships between creative communities,
government, business, NGOs and academia.
The overall objective of Artwatch Africa is to assert, promote and defend democracy and human rights in Africa through creative and artistic means, particularly the rights to freedom of expression, to receive and disseminate information. The specific objective is to monitor the contravention of freedom of expression in the arts in all African countries, to raise awareness nationally, regionally and continentally and to mobilise attention and support for artists and creative entities that experience suppression of their rights to freedom of expression.
