Vacancy: Senior Laboratory Technologist

Reporting to the Managing Director, the incumbent will be responsible for managing the day to day operations of the Laboratory including developing policies and procedures, safety, waste management, food safety and hygiene consultancy and training, strategic planning and management, budgetary and cost control, technical coaching and staff training. He/She should be knowledgeable with ISO 9001, 22000, 17025 systems and self-motivated, analytical person prepared to work long hours, supervise lab personnel, and computer literate.

Qualifications and experience

• A minimum of a higher Diploma in Microbiology /Applied Chemistry /Food Science or equivalent
• A post graduate qualification in Business Management will be an added advantage
• Botswana Training Authority (BOTA) accredited trainer for quality management, food safety & hygiene, occupational health and safety. Environmental management and commercial technology
• Internal auditor certificate for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 18001 and ISO 22000
• A minimum of 5 years relevant post qualification experience, of which at least 2 should have been in a supervisory/managerial position in food testing laboratory or related equivalent.
