Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Coverage and Media Services
Branch (CMSB), News and Media Division of the Department of Global
Communications (DGC).
The Branch consists of the Audiovisual Services Section (UN Photo, UNTV, UN Webcast
and Audiovisual Library), Meetings Coverage Section, and Media Accreditation
and Liaison Unit.
Reporting to the Chief of Branch and/or Senior Administrative Assistant, the
incumbent provides day-to-day administrative support in personnel, financial and
other administrative matters.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the incumbent will be
responsible for the following duties:
• Initiate, process, monitor, review and follow up on actions related to the
administration of the Branch's human resource activities, ensuring timely
progresses and consistency in the application of regulations and procedures;
• Assist in the timely submission and processing of recruitment requests
through Inspira;
• Respond to inquiries and provide information and advice to staff with respect
to administrative procedures, processes and practices; liaise with the
Executive Office as necessary;
• Prepare requisitions of goods and services; process and monitor payments;
• Solicit and coordinate inputs from Sections/Units for talking points,
preparation of programme budget and performance submissions, and other
reporting;
• Prepare, process and follow up on administrative arrangements and forms
related to the official travel of staff;
• Perform general administrative tasks, as required;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in administrative
services, finance, human resources or related area is required. The minimum
years of relevant experience is reduced to three (3) for candidates who possess
a first-level university degree or higher.
Experience working with the United Nations or similar international
organization is desirable.
Administrative experience in a media environment is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United
Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is
required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment
exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
Special Notice
Appointment against this position is for an initial period
of one year.
This position is subject to local recruitment pursuant to staff rule 4.4 of the

other than minor traffic offences may not be considered for employment.
