The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian

resilience. As the international community has committed to end hunger, achieve
food security and improved nutrition by 2030, one in nine people worldwide
still do not have enough to eat. Food and food-related assistance lie at the
heart of the struggle to break the cycle of hunger and poverty. For its efforts

conflict-affected areas and for acting as a driving force in efforts to prevent

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading

assistance in emergencies, and working with communities to improve nutrition
and build resilience. The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero
Hunger. Every day, WFP works worldwide to ensure that no child goes to bed
hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and
children, can access the nutritious food they need. The WFP Regional Bureau for
Eastern and Central Africa (RBN) is based in Nairobi and provides strategic
direction, technical guidance, resource mobilization, and management support to
WFP operations and activities in ten countries: Burundi, Djibouti, Eritrea,
Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, and Uganda. This position
will be based in Regional Logistics Unit and will report to head of a unit or
his/her designate.
Task description
Under the direct supervision of Regional Logistics Officer,
the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: · Responsible for
information & Communication management of unit in close coordination with
unit head or relevant staff, facilitate meeting coordination/ minutes,
collaboration with other units/stakeholders · Implement unit-specific
information and regional Logistics communication work plans designed to
maintain and enhance the visibility and overall IM & communications of WFP
Supply Chain in East Africa · Generate donor-specific visibility content
including, text, photos, videos, meeting minutes, and audio for use across a
range of integrated online platforms, in order to support regional and country
fund-raising activities, ensuring consistency with regional and corporate
messages · Collate outreach data contribute to the preparation of accurate and
timely reports on WFP Logistics achievements in the region, Support information
management, and communications activities that enable informed decision-making
and ensures consistency of information presented internal and external
stakeholders · Support information management and communications activities
that enable informed decision-making within WFP Supply Chain and ensure consistency
of information presented to internal and external stakeholders · Monitor and
analyse traditional and social media to inform the development and/or
evaluation of communication activities and strategies related to WFP Supply
Chain at RBN · Liaise and interact with unit staff and internal /external
counterparts to support aligned activities and a coherent approach to IM and
communications within WFP. · Support capacity building of WFP staff on all
aspects of communication, provides advice and guidance within area and level of
expertise. · Be the Focal Point for all communication-related activities in RBN
Logistics across units and the corporate social platform Yammer · Assist team
members of the RBN Logistics team in drafting and disseminating Information Management
products, presentations, and messages for internal and external audiences · Set
up and maintain a standard Knowledge Management structure for maximized
effectiveness on information sharing between Logistics teams and with other
units · Capacity build team members in methods to enhance visibility of
Logistics achievements through WFP’s corporate or external social media
platforms Results/Expected Outputs · Preparing regular reports to increase RBN
logistics’ visibility on activities in the region for internal and external
users, highlighting the role of Supply Chain at WFP. · Ensure quality and
consistency of the communication activities for RBN Logistics team that enable
informed decision making

Requirements
Required experience
3 years of experience in Stylizing specialist information
and communication techniques to enhance functional outputs. · Experience in creating
and maintaining internal collaboration and external partnerships. · Must
possess exceptional writing skills and be able to compose engaging and accurate
content. · Experience in graphic design and multimedia products is desirable.

Living conditions and remarks
The Republic of Kenya is an equatorial nation on the coast
of East Africa, neighbouring Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, and
the Indian Ocean. Kenya has two levels of Government; National Government and
47 sub-national Governments called Counties. Counties are further divided into
sub-counties. Kenya is a multi-party state with Executive, Legislative, and
Judicial branches. Kenya’s population of more than 40 million is growing at an
annual rate of 2.2%. The country’s GNP per capita estimated at purchasing power
parity (PPP) is $975, and the GNP is growing at an average rate of 0.1%
annually. More than 26% of Kenya’s people live below the international poverty
line of $1 per day. Kenya’s main food crops are “maize, wheat, pulses, roots
and tubers.” (FAO). Nairobi is a modern metropolitan city where most basic
goods and services, health facilities, public transport, telecommunication and
banking services and educational facilities are readily available. The city is
widely connected through its main airport, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport
and the smaller Wilson Airport. Air transport is also available to many
up-country destinations. The city is home to some 3,000 UN personnel mainly
attributed to the fact that it serves as the headquarters for both the UN
HABITAT and UNEP. The socio-economic and cultural background of the immediate
society the UNV would be living and working in is diverse and prevailing
security conditions at the place of assignment is modest. The topographic and climatic
features of the assignment location is highland cool and warm tropical climate.
