ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/ SENIOR LECTURER/ LECTURER IN GEODESY
Duties: The successful candidate will be
expected to teach undergraduate level courses. The candidate should be able to: (i) teach
Geodesy, Engineering Surveying, Survey Adjustments and Analysis courses, (ii) conduct
and produce results of scholarly work, actively involving students at
undergraduate and post graduate levels; (iii) perform
administrative and other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
The Department reserves the right to allocate other courses besides those
outlined above. A successful candidate at Associate Professor level will be
expected to provide leadership to the Geomatics Section within the Department.
Requirements:
Associate Professor: Applicants should
have (i) at least a Masters’ Degree in the following areas of
Geomatics Engineering (Geodesy/Land Surveying); (ii) at
least 5 years of teaching experience at a University or
comparable institution; (iii) have a good and sustained record
of research and publications with at least 12 publications, 8 of
which should be refereed journal articles; lead and/or single authored in at
least 6 refereed journal articles or book chapters. Applicants
should also show evidence of service to University, the Profession, the
Community and effective academic leadership. A PhD in Geodesy and/or a relevant
equivalent professional qualification will be an added advantage. The
curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications; clearly
specifying titles of publications, dates published, name(s) of publishers and
name(s) of co-authors if any. Publications should be categorized into: books,
monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc.
Senior Lecturer: Applicants should have: (i) at
least a Masters’ Degree in ¬ the following areas of Geomatics Engineering
(Geodesy/Land Surveying); (ii) a Bachelors’ Degree in
Geomatics Engineering or related discipline with at least a second class upper
division, 2(i) )/GPA of at least 3.6 on a 5 point scale or equivalent awarded
by a recognized university; (iii) at least 3 years
of teaching experience at a university or comparable institution; (iv) a
good and sustained record of research and publications with at least 6publications, 4 of
which are peer reviewed journal articles; (v) lead and/or
single author in at least 2 refereed journal articles or book
chapters. Applicants should also demonstrate evidence of service. A
PhD in Geodesy and/or a relevant equivalent professional qualification and
evidence of effective academic leadership will be added advantages. The curriculum
vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications; clearly specifying

Lecturer: Applicants should have: (i) at
least a Masters’ Degree in the following areas of Geomatics Engineering
(Geodesy/Land Surveying); (ii) a Bachelor’s Degree in
Geomatics Engineering or related discipline with at least a 2(i) pass/GPA of at
least 3.6 on a 5 point scale or equivalent awarded by a recognized university;
and (iii) show evidence of engagement in research and
service. A PhD in Geodesy and/or a relevant equivalent professional
qualification, teaching experience at a University or comparable institution
and evidence of effective academic leadership will be added advantages.
