Job Purpose
​To prepare detailed planned maintenance and shutdown schedules to facilitate the maintenance of the Power Station in accordance with set specifications, standards and safety procedures to ensure optimal plant availability.

Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities
Asset Management

  • Maintains an asset register for the Power Station’s equipment and machinery, including all manufacturers technical manuals and type, serial numbers of equipment, etc, using computer software and updates as required
  • Maintains a technical library of hard and soft copies of all manuals and documents related to various equipment
  • Creates a maintenance schedule (PPM) for all equipment and plant, based on manufacturer’s instructions, and adjusts maintenance schedules based on utilisation of a particular piece of equipment
  • Generates PPM inspection forms/job cards, specifying frequency daily, weekly etc and what to check in each piece of equipment
  • Verifies that inspections are undertaken as specified, by scrutinizing completed PPM forms, identifying deviations/errors, and follows up with concerned party or raises a job card to correct defect
  • Generates various reports relating to asset maintenance, asset costs, availability utilisation, PPM activities etc, and submits to Supervisor

Shutdown Planning & Coordination

  • Develops provisional plant shut down-plans taking into account outstanding work, user department needs, spares availability and other factors, and produces schedule
  • Generates job cards and captures job card details of the system for approved shutdown plans.
  • Compiles shutdown reports upon completion, specifying jobs completed and unfinished, with explanations for non-completion
Data Collection & Analysis

  • Works independently to collate and analyse data using pre-determined tools, methods and formats
  • Produces accurate reports for others by collecting data from a variety of standard sources and inputting that data into standard format 
Client & Customer Management

  • Carries out prescribed internal and external client management activities and provides support to others by following existing procedures.
Improvement / Innovation

  • Identifies shortcomings in existing processes, systems and procedures, then uses established change management programs to deliver prescribed outcomes and/or provide support services
Project Management

  • ​Delivers required outcomes by working within an established project management plan.
Safety, Health and Environment

  • Operates in accordance with policies and rules, while performing routine safety checks on own equipment and workspace.
  • Participates in safety inspections and reports on findings to maintain safety of personnel and good housekeeping of the plant.

Qualifications
  • A recognized Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
  • Must be a Competent Peron (within 6 months for internal candidates and 12 months for external candidates from the commencement of training)
  • Must be registered with the Engineers Registration Board (within 12 months of appointment)
  • A valid Class B Driver’s license (within 6 months of appointment)​
Experience
  • ​At least three (3) post qualification experience in electrical/ mechanical / control & instrumentation maintenance.
  • Experience in a power plant environment would be an added advantage
