PROFESSOR IN POLITICAL SCIENCE
(TWO YEAR FIXED TERM CONTRACT)
VACANCY NO. FSS/ PAS 4/ 2017
Duties: The
successful applicant will be expected to teach diploma, undergraduate and post
graduate courses. He/ she must have a solid background in Political Science and
must have demonstrable capacity to teach at least four of the following
courses: Critical Thinking; Introduction to Strategic Studies; Introduction to
International Peace Keeping; International Peace Keeping; Analysis of National
Security Policies; Advanced Strategic Studies; Security, Conflict and War;
Civil-Military Relations; War Studies; Foreign Policy Analysis; Politics of the
Environment; and Theories of International Relations.
Requirements: Candidates
should have; (i) at least a Masters’ Degree in Political Science or related
fields; (ii) at least 8 years of teaching experience at a University or
comparable institution; (iii) a good and sustained record of research and
publications with at least 24 publications, 12 of which should be refereed
journal articles; lead and/or single author in at least 10 refereed journal
articles or book chapters; (iv) evidence of service to University, the
Profession and the Community; (v) evidence of effective academic leadership;
(vi) the following will be an added advantages: a relevant PhD; the ability to
attract funding from international sources; multi-disciplinary experience in
teaching, research, administration or consultancy work. The curriculum vitae
(CV) should contain a detailed list of publications; clearly specifying titles
of publications, dates published, name(s) of publishers and name(s) of
co-authors if any. Publications should be categorized into: books, monographs, refereed
and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc.
