UB/UPENN PARTNERSHIP PROJECT
ASSISTANT LABORATORY TECHNICIAN (1 POSITION
FULL-TIME)
1 YEAR CONTRACT (RENEWABLE CONTINGENT TO
FUNDING AVAILABILITY)

DUTIES: The successful candidate is expected to: (i)
Collect and process of all blood, cervical swabs and tissue samples from the
study; (ii) separate peripheral blood into peripheral blood mononuclear cells
and serum; (iii) willing to learn and perform flow cytometry; (iv) store
samples and manage the biobank; (v) processing of high vaginal swabs,
performing STD testing and HPV genotyping, (vi) retrieve samples from the
national laboratories and other collaborating institutions; (vii) maintaining
the database of all samples; (viii) assist in all sample shipments for national
and international processing; (ix) procurement of reagents and other laboratory
supplies for the project, (x) participate in development of standard operating
procedures, (xi) any other tasks deemed necessary by the supervisor and or
study team.
REQUIREMENTS: Applicants should hold a (i) Degree in Laboratory
sciences or related field (ii) Research experience will be an added advantage.
REMUNERATION: The University offers competitive salaries and
benefits commensurate with experience and qualifications. There will be
a probation period of 3 months with possible extension to 6 month. For
