FACULTY OF EDUCATION
VACANCY NO. FE/DPE 1/2018: SENIOR LECTURER/LECTURER
IN EARLY CHILDHOOD, DEPARTMENT OF PRIMARY EDUCATION
Duties: The successful candidates will be
expected to: (i) teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in the area of
Early Childhood Education; (ii) supervise undergraduate and graduate students;
(iii) supervise students’ research projects and teaching practice (iv)
participate in all academic and professional activities of the department of
primary education including research and outreach; and (v) carry out any other
duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
Requirements: Senior Lecturer: Applicants
should (i) possess a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or Infant
Education; or Primary education with a specialisation in Infant Education/Early
Childhood Education with at least a 2(i) pass/GPA of at least 3.6 or equivalent;
(ii) Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education/Infant Education; or Primary
Education with specialisation in Infant Education/Early Childhood Education;
(iii) have at least 3 years teaching experience at a tertiary
education institution; (iv) have a minimum of 6 pieces of
research products (e.g. books, book chapters, journal articles) and/or creative
work with at least 4 of these being refereed journal
articles reflecting a spread of national, regional and international
publishing outlets; (v) The applicant must be the lead or single author in at
least 2 refereed journal articles or book chapters;
(vi) have evidence of engagement in service. The following will be added
advantages: evidence of effective academic leadership, a relevant PhD, expertise
in the use of technology in research and impact evaluation methodologies and
multi-disciplinary experience in teaching, research, administration or
consultancy work.
Requirements: Lecturer: Applicants should (i) possess
an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood/Infant Education; or Primary
Education with a specialisation in Early Childhood Education/Infant Education
with a 2(i) pass/GPA of at least 3.6 or equivalent; (ii) have a Master’s degree in Early
Childhood Education/Infant Education or Primary Education with a specialisation
in Early Childhood Education or Infant Education; (iii) show evidence of
engagement in research and service. A relevant PhD, teaching experience at a
University or comparative institution, expertise in the use of technology in
research and impact evaluation methodologies and effective academic leadership
will be added advantage
