VACANCY NO. FH/VAPA 1/2018: SENIOR LECTURER IN THEATRE, THE
VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS PROGRAMME
Duties: The successful candidate will be
responsible for teaching practical and theoretical courses in theatre at both
undergraduate and graduate levels. In particular, the successful candidate
should have specialization and teaching experience in directing and technical
theatre (scenic, costume, lighting and sound design) and at least one of the
following: scriptwriting and/or theory and criticism. The candidate should also
be able to participate in programme/curriculum development; departmental stage
productions; initiate and undertake research; and participate in
community/stakeholder engagement activities. She/he will also undertake any
other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Programme Coordinator.
Requirements: Applicants should have: (i)
at least a Masters’ Degree in Theatre Studies or related fields; (ii) a
relevant Bachelors’ Degree with at least a 2(i) pass/GPA of at least 3.6 on a
5-point scale; (iii) at least 3 years of teaching experience
at a university or comparable institution; (iv) a very good and sustained
record of research and publications with at least 6 publications, 4 of
which are peer reviewed journal articles; (v) lead and/or single author in at
least 2 refereed journal articles or book chapters; and (vi)
demonstrated evidence of engagement in service. A relevant PhD and
demonstration of effective academic leadership will be added advantages.
The curriculum vitae should contain a detailed list of
published works, clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published,
and names of publishers, name/s of co-authors if any and number of pages.
The works should be categorized into books, refereed and non-refereed works,
conference papers, consultancies, play productions, etc.
