Job Description:	1. Department of Communication Technology and Journalism (i) Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (1 position) 2. Department of Information System (i) Professor of Information System (1 position) (ii) Associate Professor of Information System (1 position) (iii) Senior Lecturer (1 position) (iv) Lecturers (2 positions) 3. Department of Computer Science (i) Professor and HOD (1 position) (ii) Professor (1 position) (iii)Senior Lecturer (1 position) MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB • BIUST is a research University. In this context Academic staff at BIUST is expected to strengthen teaching and research of the university and enhance student learning. • It is essential that Academic Staff are strongly engaged in research to improve their academic credentials and to establish themselves in an internationally recognized research area relevant to Botswana. • Supervising graduate students is an essential component of research engagement. Academics are expected to be extensively involved with supervising graduate student research. • To train and educate undergraduate and graduate students, using and developing new and appropriate teaching methods, including e-learning and student centered learning
Preferred Skills:	QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE PER POSITION 1) Professor: Minimum requirements: A PhD in the relevant ­field and a minimum of ten (10) years post-doctoral experience in teaching and research in the relevant ­field together with an excellent record of international publications commensurate with appointment to the rank of Professor as well as experience in the successful supervision of doctoral students. 2) Professor and Head of Department Minimum requirements: A PhD in the ­eld relevant to the Department and must be a Professor or meet the requirements of a Professor (as stated above). In addition, must have a minimum of three (3) years experience in an academic leadership role. 3) Associate Professor: Minimum requirements: A PhD in the relevant ­eld and a minimum of six (6) years post-doctoral experience in teaching and research in the relevant ­eld together with an excellent record of international publications commensurate with appointment to the rank of Associate Professor. Experience in the successful supervision of postgraduate students. 4) Senior Lecturer: Minimum requirements: A PhD in the relevant ­eld and a minimum of three (3) years post-doctoral experience in teaching and research in the relevant ­eld together with an excellent record of international publications commensurate with appointment to the rank of Senior Lecturer. Experience in the supervision of Masters graduate students is required. 5) Lecturer: Minimum requirements: A minimum of PhD in the relevant ­eld together with a record of international publications is required. Teaching experience will be an added advantage. The positions require the following competencies: • Setting up and/or being engaged intensively in research groups. • Producing peer-reviewed research output particularly through team work. • Being familiar with methods of e-learning and student centered learning • Ability to communicate complex ideas.
