Chief Risk Officer - Botswana

be a vital addition as the Chief Risk Officer for Barclays Bank Botswana.
Reporting into the Country Managing Director, you will
provide full participation as a member of the executive team of the business
whilst building partnerships with other functions of the business. You
will lead the business unit's credit team and manage all aspects of credit and
market risk to deliver acceptable levels of credit losses within a framework of
support to the business objectives of the Bank and provide high quality risk
management to agreed service levels.
You will be responsible for developing and implementing
suitable credit and market risk policies for the business unit within the
context of and compliance with Group credit policies as well as support the
business teams in development of risk-related products and planning of business
development strategies with acceptable risk parameters.
As well as managing the credit approval process you will
also actively look to improve the credit process and its cost effectiveness to
include adopting and developing best practice in the Sovereign, Country, Bank,
Corporate and Personal sectors, as required. You will devise and
implement risk management systems and devise credit scoring programs taking
information available from the Branch network and refining it to create credit
scoring systems capable of automating, centralizing and standardizing credit
risk policy across the bank.
Essential/Basic Qualifications
Coming from a strong background in Risk you will have your
experience gained within a wholesale and retail banking environment. You
will be used to the day to day running of risk management and working closely
with the Managing Director or CEO and the Board, where Risk is concerned.
You will be a strong leader of people, proving your ability
to run a successful and efficient team with a strong focus on the management of
their performance as well as talent. Furthermore you will have the strong
relationship building skills to be able to liaise effectively with key
stakeholders both on an internal and external basis.
