ADVERTISEMENT: PROCUREMENT OFFICER (1 POST)


The Directorate of Public Service Management (DPSM) invites applications from highly motivated and well experienced self – driven citizens of Botswana to fill the following vacant post which exists at Botswana Public Service College (BPSC)

Salary Scale: C1 (118,428 – 141,616) per annum

Leave: 30 working days per annum

Benefits:

•Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% and employee pays 50 % )
•Contributory Pension Fund Scheme (Government pays 15 % and employee pays 5 %)

Qualifications:

•Degree or Diploma in Strategic Supply ,Chain Management , Business Administration or Chartered Institute of Purchase and Supply Level 6 or 5 or any related field

Experience:

•A minimum of four (4) years relevant post qualification experience in Purchasing, Supply and Materials Management, 2 years of which should have been served as Procurement Officer II (C2) or equivalent level in the parastatal or Private Sector.

Main purpose of the Job:


•To perform clerical and technical duties to support contracting operations and provide guidance on procurement regulations and procedures

Key performance Areas:

•Reviews and analyses client requirements, liaise with client to determine best procurement strategy to meet the needs of the requirements.
•Conducts market research to ensure that advertised specifications are aligned to the new product developments
•Compiles data contained in quotations/ proposals/ bids to facilitate the determination of the best supplier in terms of quality, delivery time, discounts and transport costs among others.
•Requests and compiles quotation information to facilitate selection of best supplier
•Prepares bid packages, conducts pre- bid meetings and evaluates bids
•Assesses personal knowledge and skills against job specific competencies to identify development needs and priorities.
•Identifies staff skills gap and determines relevant development programme (s)
•Undertakes any other related duties as may be assigned by Management.
