Remuneration/Benefits:
•Net Salary of P297, 933.00 per annum
•Dependency allowance for eligible children
•Participation in a contributory Medical Insurance Plan
•Participation in a contributory Pension Fund Scheme
•Annual leave @ 2.5 working days per annum
Purpose of post:
•Under the supervision of the UNICEF Representative the post will assist in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating an advocacy and communication strategy to get children’s and women’s issues into the public domain
• Strengthen the political will in support of UNICEF’s mission and objectives in the country and enhance the organization’s credibility and brand. This will include responsibility for production and follow up of communication products and materials in a timely manner;
•Developing, drafting and maintaining contact information, materials and relationships with journalists; and media outlets covering all media-Print, TV, Radio, Web etc in the country, to communicate the story of UNICEF’s cooperation to a wider audience development and maintenance of contacts essential to/can assist in achieving the advocacy and communication objectives and who support and are able to actively participate in special events and activities that further the country programme goals.
Qualifications/Experience:
•University Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field or equivalent professional work experience in the Communication area, combined with an advanced University Degree in a related discipline.
•Knowledge of current theories and practices in the field
•Two (2) years practical professional experience in Communications, Print Broadcast Media or interactive digital media
•Ability to write and speak effectively and creatively in both English and Setswana
•Knowledge of desktop publishing and standard office software essential
•Proven skills in public speaking, networking, advocacy and work with public media
•Proven ability to formulate, plan and execute ideas
•Commitment to the concept and practice of children’s participation
•Knowledge of another UN working language an asset
