Job Description

• Providing Senior Wholesale Banking management with frequent, complete, accurate, timely and valid information as to the performance of the WB business on a monthly basis.
• Managing the processes and systems for formulating and evaluating business strategies/performance including planning, forecasting and budgeting, advanced analysis of financial data and teams profitability.
• Focusing on design, development, implementation, control and maintenance of management performance processes within WB.
• Support in setting strategy and monitoring progress towards KPI’s.
• Ensure the accurate and timely monthly reporting of financial information including compliance to IFRS.
• Preparation of a comprehensive budget and forecasts for the Wholesale Bank
• Prepare monthly Customer Profitability.
• Support Assets and Liabilities Committee(ALCO) & Regional Assets and Liabilities Committee (RALCO) related issues which also includes Balance Sheet, RWA and Capital Requirement Analysis.
• Periodic Sales Reporting Issues
• All country Wholesale Bank finance issues
• Build on key team coherence to deliver on Business Support performance objectives.
• Support business to review product program/document with special emphasis on appropriate financial accounting

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Business Partner

• Support the Wholesale Bank on strategy and monitor progress towards Key Performance Indicators.
• Actively implement the business partnering concept between Ghana finance teams and the wholesale Bank.
• Actively implement a consistent path to the Group Business Model and migrates best practice.
• Partner business in establishing a low and value for money cost base
• Assist business in analysing variance reports and variations from stated strategies.
• Regularly highlight performance and execution gaps from agreed strategies and recommend remedial actions.
• Ensure that the WB balance sheet is aligned to deliver performance targets and continuously leveraged to deliver optimum revenues
• Perform regular segment, customer and product profitability reviews to ensure that value is not being destroyed.
• Act as Financial Advisor to the WB business in matters relating to Finance.

Reporting

• To ensure WB monthly reporting is timely and accurate at both product and customer segment levels. This includes the consistent application of the Funds Transfer Pricing and Cost Allocation methodologies
• Assist business to undertake the financial analysis of the Business monthly performance

Budgeting and Planning

• Provide financial input and co-ordinate the formulation of the Business operating plans/budget and monitor progress towards its achievement, drawing attention to important trends, risks and opportunities to maximise earnings and minimise risk.

Financial Control

• Review and monitor the business performance against Group policies for Market Risk, Liquidity Management, local regulatory and other statutory requirements
• Manage the WB cost centres
• Ensure adherence of Wholesale Banking to the Financial Controls Policies
Ensure that the WB business complies with taxation, capital, regulatory and statutory accounting requirements

Capital Management

• To assist the CFO, Ghana on capital management issues.

Project Management

• Assist in the evaluation of projects which are specific to the WB Business in accordance with Group and local guidelines and contribute fully to their implementation
• Assist business in preparation of PARs
• Ensure that project accounting disciplines and tracking mechanisms (including benefits tracking) are in place for all WB projects.


Operational Risk

• To report Unit’s OR issues and losses from the RP to the FORM.
• To assist FORM in developing and updating of procedures, controls and monitoring plans for Operational Risk Management
• To identify and report all weaknesses inherent in the standard controls
• To own all risk issues within WB Finance

Others

• Undertake ad hoc projects and assignments as agreed with Line Managers and the Heads of Global Markets and OCC.

Qualifications & Skills

• Degree in Business, MBA, Accounting or Professional Qualification – CIMA, CPA, ACCA or its equivalent plus at least three years experience in a middle management position with relevant / specific banking experience
• High level of computer literacy and understanding of business computing environments
• Knowledge of the Banking practice and Products
• Strong knowledge in Management Accounting principles
• Strong analytical skills and an eye for detail
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Team player and builder
