FHI 360 serves more than 60 countries, all 50 U.S. states and all U.S. territories. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Technical Officer I, Communications and Outreach Specialist for a proposed Gender project in Amman, Jordan.

Program Description

The USAID Jordan Gender Program will seek to promote gender equality and female empowerment to address the social, political and economic challenges that are facing them. The objective of this program will be supported by three components; the first component relates to expanding social dialogue on gender equality; the second component focus on strengthening advocacy for female empowerment; and the third component will focus on improving services for women and girls.

Position Description:

The Communications and Outreach Specialist is responsible for engaging directly with local organizations and groups and overseeing public outreach and social dialogue activities. Provides technical support and guidance to staff and partners in the region and in country offices. Implements and monitors technical strengthening initiatives. Develops adoption and/or training strategy, designs and conducts training or adoption activities for a specific technical area. Creates scientific and technical material in area of expertise. Assists and gives guidance with development of proposals. Works with communities and partners to maximize local capacity. Evaluates programmatic effectiveness and provides technical assessment reports.

The Technical Officer I, Communications & Outreach Specialist will:
  • Provides technical support in the development and dissemination of tools, materials, reports, papers, and intervention for research projects.
  • Works closely with assigned team to ensure activities are implemented according to standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
  • Writes and edits technical reports and documents. Assists with publications, web pages, and presentations.’
  • Conducts searches of published literature on evolving issues in assigned technical area.
  • Monitors and maintains protocols, instruments, data sets, manuals, training materials and reports.
  • Responds to requests and inquiries from internal and external staff.

Minimum Requirements: 
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience in developing countries
  • Demonstrated experience in building constructive relationships between government and civil society
  • Demonstrated experience in applying participatory methods
  • Demonstrated experience in gender related activities
  • Understanding of Jordanian communities and the Jordanian political system
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in establishing procedures and systems relevant to the project
  • Demonstrated experience in conflict mitigation
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field. Masters Preferred.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic
