PURPOSE OF POSITION:
This position will be our lead external advocate on the area of Violence Against Children. The aim is to ensure that child protection is a prominent priority within the global development agenda with the initial target of Post-2015. They will be responsible for representing World Vision in identifying and promoting effective networks of child protection advocates, advocating for policy changes at the multilateral level and collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure World Vision's evidence base is utilised and the organisation is prepared to take advantage of new policy opportunities. Advocacy with multilateral institutions. Negotiate/debate/ compromise with UN leading experts in the field of violence against children to achieve policy change.
This will involve overseeing extensive analysis of available data and further research as required to identify key areas related to Violence against Children and associated child protection policy where targets, such as the UN and other institutions are off base. This position will be expected to assemble and advance arguments as to how they need to change or improve their work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Building
networks of key stakeholders (peer, government, multilateral and
academic).
- Identifying
and positioning World Vision for grant opportunities.
- Identify
and cultivate global champions.
- Ensure
internal strengths are leveraged externally.
- Support
senior leaders in effective advocacy on child protection.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Required:
- Masters
Degree in social work, international relations, international development
or law.
- Ability
to write to a publishable standard.
- At
least 10 years experience in leading child protection work either within
government, regional or multilateral institutions or in a peer NGO.
- Track
record in influencing policy.
Preferred:
- Understanding
of social marketing.
- Experience
in working with the media / other communications vehicles to change
attitudes.
