PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Faith and Development in Programmes Regional Specialist will support National Offices in developing and implementing, without discrimination, effective strategies and approaches that reflect and integrate faith perspectives and commitments in organizational plans, priorities, processes, and practices, in ways that reinforce World Vision’s Christian foundations, identity and witness through the life and work of staff, offices and programs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy, Development and Refinement of Integrated
Programmes:
- Work
with National Offices in developing tools and provide technical support to
National Offices in developing Faith and Development Secondary Strategy
and Programming Guidelines that are contextual and consistent with the
Regional and Country Strategies.
- Contribute
to the development and practice of contextualised Faith and Development
models that are integrated with Development, HEA and Advocacy to enhance
the well-being of children.
- Assist
National Offices with tools and guidelines for integrating faith perspectives
in the development of technical approaches in Health, Child Protection,
Education, Economic Development, People and Culture, HEA, Advocacy, LEAP /
TD, etc.
- Support
National Offices in the design, implementation, evaluation and learning on
context appropriate models for Faith and Development programmes.
- Work
with other sectors to facilitate and support contextualised approaches for
Spiritual Nurture of Children.
- Ensure
appropriate and timely support is given to staff overseeing Faith and
Development in the National Offices.
- Supports
the development, implementation and monitoring of the Regional Faith and
Development Strategy.
Capacity Building/Quality Assurance: - Support
the capacity building process of Faith and Development point persons in
spiritual formation, holistic mission, integration, understanding and
working with churches and different faith groups, spiritual nurture of
children, and related issues.
- Develop,
identify, and facility ate access to Faith and Development resources and
learnings for capacity building in national offices. These may include
involvement in training, engagement of trainers, establishing
institutional links, identifying opportunities for staff exchange or
mentoring and internet-based / online courses and sharing among NOs.
- Support
National Offices in adherence to policies, protocols and standards related
to Faith and Development.
- Create
and maintain a regional monitoring system for tracking Faith and
Development related objectives and performance at the national and
regional levels.
Knowledge Management: - Assist
the process of continuous learning related to Faith and Development and
its integration with other lines of ministries, sectors and themes.
- Facilitate
mutual learning of Faith and Development among National Offices within the
region.
- Assist
in the coordination of regional Faith and Development forum and networks.
- Support
the documentation of CC integration best practices and contribute to the
community of practice and center of excellence.
- Facilitate
the documentation and sharing of Faith and Development promising practices
and contribute to the community of practice.
Internal Liaison and Coordination: - Support
the Faith and Development Director on matters related to the formulation
of contextualised Faith and Development strategies, frameworks and
processes in different contexts in the region.
- Support
the Faith and Development Director in the development of models, tools,
and resources in: (1) Reinforcing our Christian foundations, identity and
witness; (2) spiritual formation of staff; (3) Partnership with churches;
(4) Interfaith understanding and cooperation; (5) Integration of faith and
work; (6) Spiritual Nurture of Children.
- Facilitates
and supports an environment and organisational culture consistent with our
mission and faith commitments.
- Participate
in and coordinate regional working groups and networks related to Faith
and Development as deemed necessary by the Regional Faith and Development
Director.
- Liaise
with other sectors in integrating faith perspectives in appropriate and
relevant ways.
- Organise
and coordinate prayer networks prayer mobilisation at regional level as
required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Required:
- Tertiary
qualifications in Theology or Social Sciences or Development Studies.
- Proven
experience in program designing, implementation, monitoring and
evaluation.
- Proven
ability to work in diverse cultural and faith contexts and with people of
different faiths.
- Good
understanding of mission and its relationship to development and relief.
- At
least 4 years experience working in community development, organizational
development, and related fields.
- The
work requires the high initiative the ability to be a self-starter.
- The
role involves working with virtually with staff located in different
geographical locations.
Preferred: - Formal
training in mission and development.
- Demonstrated
skills in designing spiritual development programs and resources in
various faith/religious and cultural contexts.
- Experience
in tracking budgets, organising training programs and logistics.
