Position Summary:

Parsons Brinckerhoff is seeking to appoint a suitable individual to a position of Engineering Manager for and EPC Power Generation project. With an engineering degree and at least 10 years engineering experience in power generation projects in particular utilising reciprocating engine technology, you will be accountable for setting up the design processes, developing innovative design solutions and managing the implementation of design, including external design partners and client reviews and approvals. At least 3 years project management experience in EPC power generation projects.


Qualifications, Competencies and Experience:

• Engineering Degree
• Registered Professional Engineer
• 10 Years engineering, preferably in the power generation environment, of which 3 must be in a lead role on major projects
• 3 Years practical involvement in major power generation projects utilising reciprocating engines technology
• Experience and understanding across all the engineering disciplines
• Strong design process knowledge for power generation projects
• Innovative approach to both the design process and the solution
• Strong technical knowledge in own discipline with a good working knowledge across all the engineering disciplines
• Management of the design team, including external partners
• Working with the client for design definition, review and approval
• Knowledge of and the ability to include safety, environmental and community aspects in the design process
• Quality management of the design process
• Design reviews including HAZOP, risk and constructability
• Document management and control process
• Strong team player

Design Management
• Set up the design process for projects including identifying design packages
• Ensures the right systems and procedures are in place for effective design and management of the design process
• Manage the development of design criteria and key design documentations across all disciplines
• Manage the development of innovative design solutions
• Develop the design schedule, including detailed design
• Manage the design teams across all engineering disciplines through close liaison with the teams
• Manage the performance of external design partners, including costs and schedule and ensure prompt identification and resolution of change orders for cost and schedule
• Direct the required design reviews and workshops including risk, value engineering, HAZOP and constructability
• Ensures all statutory requirements, codes and standards are met
• Produce technically innovative and accurate work
• Manage the review and approval of the design by the client
• Provide regular reports to the project manager on the design performance and highlights problem areas
• Manage time and competing demands to meet deadlines
• Manage the design team including performance appraisal as applicable
• Make sound decisions that support team and company objectives
• Comply with company procedures and systems to support team goals, including forward planners and timesheets

Procurement
• Manage the preparation of technically sound drawings and specifications for procurement of equipment, fabrication and construction
• Ensure the design contracting conditions are appropriate for effective designs and control of the design process

Construction
• Manage any design queries from the construction team within a acceptable timeframe
