General Ledger Accountant

Job description
Main Purpose of Position

  • The GL Accountant is the owner of and therefore ultimately accountable for the country financial data, reporting and master data. This is a key role within a country finance structure, forming the backbone of all financial processing and services.
Key Performance Areas:
  • Performance Standards Co-ordinate input of data from various departments. Analyse variances to current year's spend and prior year budget
  • Generate capex report summary with all the necessary capex forms as back up.

  • Review all cheque payments supporting documentation, ensuring that the payment is for a service, or goods received by the company.
  • Ensure that the month end procedures for accounts payable, cash book, fixed assets, payroll and general ledger are performed correctly and at the correct time Review control account reconciliation and clear outstanding items.

Minimum qualification and requirements :

  • Business Degree, Bcom or equivalent financial qualification (AAT/ACCA/CIMA). Qualified accountant will be an added advantage.
  • At least 3 years of management/ financial accounting in a large computerised organisation and have strong IFRS knowledge, Pastel and Good Financial / Business understanding.
