Botswana International University of Science and Technology is
looking for qualified and experienced individual for the below stated position;
The position of SENIOR LECTURER/ ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR is
offered on fixed term contract of five (5) years or pensionable
terms.
FACULTY OF SCIENCES
Earth and Environmental Science
SENIOR LECTURER/ ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
- To
teach and educate undergraduate and graduate students in Structural
Geology and tectonics through research and publications
- To
administer teaching activities within the discipline of Structural Geology
and provide leadership in this academic area
- To establish
research reputation in the field of Structural Geology and Tectonics and
its application to resource exploration and evaluation and other earth
science applications. To be active in professional service to the Mining
Industry.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
- A PhD
or equivalent in Structural Geology
- A
minimum of six (6) years post-doctoral experience in teaching and
research.
- A
record of recent and continued publications ( minimum of 16 publications
in reputable peer reviewed journals)
- Successful
supervision of postgraduate students at the Master and Doctoral level.
- Record
of attracting research grants.
SENIOR LECTURER
- A PhD
or equivalent in Structural Geology
- A
minimum of two (2) years post-doctoral experience in teaching and research
- A
record of recent and continued publications (minimum of 8 publications in
reputable, peer- reviewed, journals).
- Record
of attracting research grants
KEY COMPETENCIES/ SKILLS
- In
depth understanding of own specialization to enable the development of new
knowledge, innovation and understanding within the field.
- Ability
to prepare and submit proposals and applications to external bodies’ e.g.
for funding and accreditation purposes.
- Understanding
of academic management structures and their functioning
- Excellent
knowledge of the international academic discipline environment.
- Involvement
in professional activities where applicable
- Effective
communication skills
