VACANCY FOR AN EDUCATION OFFICER / PRODUCER (1 POST)

Applicants are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Education Officer in the Department of ICT and Media Services, Ministry of Education and Skills Development.

SALARY: C1 (P130 560 – P156 012 per annum)

LEAVE: 30 Working Days Per Annum

BENEFITS: i) Optional medical aid scheme with the Botswana Public Officers Medical Aid Scheme (BPOMAS - Government pays 50% and employee pays 50%)

ii) Contributory pension scheme (Government contributes 15% and employee contributes 5%)

QUALIFICATION:

Applications should have a Bachelors Degree in Media Studies/Broadcast Journalism/Communications/ Education or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

4 years experience working in a broadcast environment with extensive knowledge of Television production processes.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To produce Educational Television programs and other related programs that will effectively supplement the curriculum.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

1. Produce in-house programmes
2. Select production crews including writers, presenters and others.
3. Conceives programmes ideas, determines the program formats and their audience suitability.
4. Ensures program compliance to set editorial guidelines by following the set requirements
5. Implements in- house television program strategy
6. Monitors program production process.
7. Liaise with operations to ensure availability of production resources.
8. Contributes to the development of the commissioning process by participating in commissioning processes.
9. Implements educational broadcasting policies and strategies
10. Prepares budget for programmes
11. Monitors utilization of television resources and equipment during shootings / recordings.
