IN PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY

Duties: The successful candidate will be required to:
(i) teach all areas of Physical Chemistry at Undergraduate and Postgraduate
levels and General Chemistry at Undergraduate level; (ii) teach the following
particular areas in the Graduate program; Spectroscopy, Polymers,
Electrochemistry and Theoretical Chemistry (Quantum Chemistry and/or
Computational Chemistry); (iii) embark on active
research in an area that will
complement existing research in the Chemistry Department or in the area of the
candidate's specialization; (iv) render the professional service normally
associated with a University lectureship. The following are some of research
areas that are currently of interest to the Physical Chemistry section:
Polymers, Colloids and Interfacial Phenomena, Thermodynamics, Solution
Chemistry and Spectroscopy.
Requirements: The candidate must have: (i)
at least a Master of Science Degree in Chemistry with specialization in one of
Spectroscopy, Polymers, Electrochemistry or Theoretical Chemistry (Quantum
Chemistry and/ or Computational Chemistry); (ii) a Bachelor of Science Degree
in Chemistry with at least a 2(i) pass/ GPA of at least 3.6; (iii) shown
evidence of engagement in research and service. A PhD Degree in Physical
Chemistry, teaching experience at a University or comparable institution, and
demonstration of effective academic leadership will be added advantages.
