Vacancies at the U.S. Embassy in Gaborone, Botswana

The U.S. Embassy in Gaborone is seeking individuals for the following positions:

1.CHAUFFEUR/DISPATCHER
2.COMPUTER TECHNICIAN

1.CHAUFFEUR/ DISPATCHER, FSN – 4 /FP- AA; N14/04

Salary: ( P 61, 256 p.a. Starting salary per year + benefits)

Basic functions of Position:

•Serves as a chauffeur/ Dispatcher under the Motor pool section
•Fills in for the Motor Pool Supervisor in his absence
•Support motor vehicle operations to transport people and items
•Coordinates transportation for all VIP visits
•Collects and enters data into FMIS for Motor Pool metrics reports

Qualifications required:

•Completion of Secondary School Required
•One year as a professional chauffeur with dispatching responsibilities
•Fluent in Setswana
•Good working knowledge of English
•Must have knowledge of motor vehicle operations and safety, traffic patterns, city locations and basic Excel program and adaptability new computer programs and systems is required.
•Must have the ability to organize trips and work schedules
•Must possess and maintain a valid Botswana drivers’ licence with a clean record

2.COMPUTER TECHNICIAN, FSN7/FP – 07;N14/05

Salary: (P 103, 775 p.a. Starting salary per year + benefits)

Basic functions of Position:

•The Computer technician will provide technical support for all hardware and network systems at BOTUSA
•Perform routine duties such as delivering and planning IT support services, which will include installation, configuration and troubleshooting of computer hardware and software
•Providing customer assistance by diagnosing and resolving IT problems
•Being a resource for the center staff in using the software and hardware necessary to perform their jobs
•Assisting the system administrator in routine tasks

Qualifications required:

•Diploma or local equivalent in the field of computer sciences or related discipline with demonstrated good working knowledge of computer systems that is equivalent to knowledge obtained from A+ certification. The following certificates are required: CompTIA A +, N +; MCDST (Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician)
•2 years performing progressively more responsible work of a technical nature. At least one year must have been providing computer operations and end user support
•Fluent in English (written and spoken)
•Good working knowledge of Windows 2000, NT, XP, Server 2003
•Experience in MS Office suite 2007 and Access 2003 software is required
•Must have technical skills in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving hardware, software and networking problems
